“Nice bed..except for annoying maid service!”
Reviewed 28 April 2012

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night. We had booked an accessible room with two queens weeks in advance, but when we got to the hotel, those rooms were not available and they did upgrade us to a "suite" with a king with an accessible bathroom. Hummm...OK..but how this room could have been accessible to ANYONE in a wheelchair is a mystery to me. It appeared they had taken a single hotel room, added a wall and called it a suite. The "front room was so small that one couch and one chair were jammed into it. The doorway to the "king bedroom" was very small and inside was one king bed that was pushed up against the wall on one side so it would fit in the small space! No one in a wheelchair could have gotten around in this room. On the positive side, the bathroom was larger, the bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel had tried to accomodate us. Because we were visiting friends in the area we got in fairly late at 1:00 AM and were looking forward to sleeping in before resuming our 12 day road trip. At 8:30 AM the maid service pounded on our door calling out "room service". We begrudging answered..".we are not up yet". Mind you, check out was at 11:00 AM! Exactly five minutes later another pound on the door...."room service"! We again called out that we were still in bed. On the third pounding about 8:50 AM we finally just got up and called that we would happy if they gave us an hour before returning. My husband and I got dressed and were going to go for breakfast at the Village Inn which was adjacent to the property. When we opened the door the room service cart was blocking our doorway and the maid was standing there waiting for us to leave. It was 9:30! We had plenty of time for breakfast prior to check out! We finally just went back in the room, finished packing, put our stuff in the car, told the maid we were out of the room and went for breakfast. It was a good bed...TOO BAD THEY WOULDN'T LET US ENJOY IT! We are actually purchasing property in the area and will need to make several trips back in the next few months, but we won't be staying here!

We spent six nights in a jacuzzi suite and it was perfect for us. A private bedroom with Jacuzzi (not a cheap tub but a Jacuzzi brand), flat screen TV, the most comfy bed I've ever slept in at a hotel, even better than Marriott's bed, a living room with second flat screen TV, small kitchen, and bath with shower and tub. Everything worked, it was bright, lots of lights with high watt bulbs, nice bedding, furniture, etc. Everything was done tastefully and nothing was spared. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and complete with hot foods including eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, waffles, fresh fruit, Starbucks coffee. The only drawback was the place was so full on weekends and there was only one person working the breakfast so most of the time the hot plates were empty and the poor woman was being worked to death. It did award her lots of tips but it seemed rather cruel to only have one person serving so many people. The pool and jacuzzi outdoors were nice with beautiful grounds. Everything is maintained well. The desk personnel were all extremely friendly and caring and the location is perfect to get to all the major parts of Tucson. What a wonderful city and great place to hang our hat at the end of the evening. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

I stayed a Sunday through Friday in mid-April, as part of a photo tour of the desert areas around Tucson. The normal routine was to be out early in the morning, back to the hotel for mid-day, then back out to the desert for late afternoon and sunset.

The hotel consists of several buildings arranged around three sides of a very nice swimming pool, with rooms that face either inside to the pool or to the outside, and a building fronting on the highway that contains the front desk, business center with 4 computers and a laser sprinter for guest use, and a lounge area. On the fourth side of the pool is a small building that is the breakfast room and refreshment center for the pool. There appeared to be plenty of chaise lounges around the pool, each with a pool towel, neatly folded.

My room was a king single room; it was extremely clean and neat, a little on the small side, though very adequate for me; it was well furnished with night stands and reading lamps on both sides of the bed, a desk with a height-adjustable soft office-type chair, swing arm lamp with electrical outlet in the base, free wireless Wi-Fi with an excellent high-speed connection, and two racks for holding open suitcases. It had a microwave and small fridge (useful for my long stay- I brought home "doggie bags" several evenings) as well as a coffee maker. The small closet contained an iron and ironing board. The bed was very comfortable, and among the four pillows provided, two were firm and two were soft. There was a convenient electrical outlet on one side of the bed for my CPAP machine.

As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast room is small, but there is additional outside seating, and in good weather it is delightful. Breakfast was more than adequate, with all the normal sweet breakfast breads, toast and bagels, as well as fresh halved grapefruit, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage links and biscuits with sausage gravy. Also, three different types of juice, a fruit bowl, a do-it-yourself waffle maker, and good coffee.

Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Although a "take one - leave one" library was an advertised feature, the young lady at the desk told me it had been discontinued, since there were way more "take ones" than "leave ones." Nevertheless, she obligingly scurried around and found a couple of books that had been left by guests for over six months, from which I selected one (and left one!)

My complaints were only three:

1. The concrete walkways in front of all the rooms are grooved to look like tile; the result is that when housekeeping carts and roller suitcases are rolled along them they make a terrible racket. I heard them only because I was in my room during there day on several days; if you are going to be gone from the room during the day you shouldn't be bothered;

2. The adjustable shower head was limed up enough that water squirted every which way (except on me) on any setting except the full blast narrow stream; and

3. The very low toilets, tough probably very chic in design, are so shallow that when seated it is very difficult to keep certain parts of the male anatomy dry.

Room Tip: If you plan to go to bed early, you may wish to ask for an outside room, as the pool can be somewhat...

I stayed here for 10 nights with my husband and 8 month old daughter in an Executive Suite. Check in was easy and the front desk staff was very nice. The breakfast was good- potatoes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bread/pastries, yogurt, fruit and waffles. The room was small but there was outside seating, there was always a line for the waffle maker (they should invest in at least one more as it was super popular) and the selection stayed the same. After 10 days I needed a change. There was an evening social hour with drinks (soft drinks, beer and wine- limit 2 free) and snacks, which was nice. The room was clean but set up a little strange. The bathroom sink was in a nook in the bedroom that you had to walk through the majority of the suite to get to. (Out of the bathroom, past the kitchenette, into the bedroom and to the far wall) but we got used to it. That nook was great for my daughter's crib to go. It fit great. I did not end up using the kitchenette so I can't say how well it worked but there was a fridge, microwave, two burners and dishes, along with a sink. Unless you are traveling with a small child in a crib, I don't think the executive suite is best for you. I don't think there would be much space once you put down the hide-a-bed in the sofa. Cleaning staff was nice. I booked through the hotels's website (not the best western site) and saved A LOT. The location is good. There is a restaurant next door (Village Inn) plus a lot of places that are a short walking distance that are really good. You are also near a post office and CVS. For what I paid it was an amazing deal and a great value at the hotel. Not sure if I'd pay full price though for the room. I was going to give the hotel a 4 star rating, but for the value, I decided to bump it up to 5.

We had reserved for two nights, but after the first night we asked if we could add on another night.
In the afternoon they have a social hour in the building with the breakfast room. Eithr 2 free beers or 2 glasses of wine. Other drinks were available at the bar for cash. They also had snacks out at this time. Yes the breakfast room could be bigger, but they provided chairs right outside or you could sit around the very nice pool-hot tub area.
Our room was comfortable and clean.
Also we found out that if you presented your room key when paying your bill at the Village Inn right next door , you got a discount if you were staying at Best Western.Conveient to Biosphere and the canyon and going out to the DesertbMuseum. Also a mall close by.

The overall star rating is based on the service that was given at this hotel. The hotel itself was nice but nothing spectacular. It was what you would expect from a little bit older Best Western. That being said the room was very clean and well kept. Attention was given to making the rooms the best that they could be. Value for the room was good, and the breakfast was a great option to grab without leaving the hotel. The service at this location was amazing. From check-in to check-out, everything was taken care of with a smile. The management has taken the time to make sure that the employees of this hotel are on point and know hospitality. Even though the hotel was very busy the noise levels were not an issue. Location was okay but not great. Their were quite a few abandoned buildings that looked pretty rough very close by. I would stay at this location again based on service and cleanliness.

we stayed for three nights recently. We had originally booked a "King executive suite" king bed in a bedroom- seperate livingroom, hide a bed, kitchenette.
When we looked at the king room we asked to change- to a room with two queens. the unit was really small feeling. eventhough it was two rooms. the hide a bed was very tired. We have learned that a hide a bed might be fine for kids under 8 but our pre-teens were not going to be able to sleep on that bed.
This room would be great for a single person or a couple that needed a kitchenette-
There is not enough room to manuever in the living room for more than two people-
We asked for a room with two queens. The staff was very helpful and more that willing to accomodate us.,
The new room was very spacious and the attention to detail in the room made me feel like someone very thoughtful laid the room out.
there was a night stand on each side of both beds- as well as reading lights for each side.
there was a small fridge and microwave.
the actual bathroom was small- but in great condition and very clean.
the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we have stayed in. If you read my other review we stayed in a penthouse suite in Canada, in some ways this room was more comfortable.
we were right in the front building next to the parking lot on the first floor- but it was still quiet.
We stayed three nights and spent most of one day chilling by the pool.
The breakfast is very good like a lot of people have said- the size of the breakfast room being small is interesting- as you can eat outside and the weather is warm enough that it was fine.
We would absolutley stay here again.

Room Tip: se looked at B229- did not like that room- stayed in B123. very nice room.
