“Great place to stay in Tucson”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2011

Reading recent reviews, I see the same favorable ratings I would give for The Lodge. My first time ever in Arizona was a stay at Lodge on the Desert a few years ago, and I was impressed from the moment we arrived. We had a studio type room, quite large for a studio, with a fireplace. Think rustic southwest, Spanish mission feel: Terracotta tile, wood beams, that's what The Lodge is, built in the early 1930's. The service was great, personal and friendly, they know how to treat their clientele. I would definitely recommend Lodge on the Desert as a great place to stay in Tucson.

What a treat to be able to spread out in a beautiful, large room with a double sink in the bathroom. This was our second stay in the modern part of the hotel. We loved the free internet, gas fireplace, and great teas. (Coffee was a little weak, but if you halved the water, it was fine.) The towels are thick and fluffy, the room was spotless, and the hot tub is delightful. So enjoyed the nice long robes for the short walk to the pool. The old part of the lodge is cute and historic, but the rooms are small, dark, and don't get good internet.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have fireplaces, so request one if you are there in the winter months. Evenings can b...

After reading the reviews of Lodge on the Desert, I was so hoping it would be wonderful. And it exceeded all my expectations! Nestled in the midst of busy streets and crowded shopping areas, this boutique hotel is a quiet oasis. The rooms are very large, with spacious bathrooms and a lovely gas fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets soft and luxurious. I regret not bringing my bathing suit to take advantage of the heated outdoor pool that boasts two lovely waterfall features. The grounds are manicured with lush grass and tall palms. The staff is helpful and courteous. The restaurant was amazing...from yummy martinis to huge shrimp cocktails to gourmet dinners prepared by a young, adventurous chef. I can't say enough good things about this place. Truly a "find" and one spot I will both recommend to everyone who travels to Tucson, and hope to stay at again. Using my AAA discount, it ended up costing a third less than other hotels in the area. Does it get any bettter than that?

We loved our stay here. We had a deluxe king with a fireplace and spa tub. The room was very large, the bed comfortable and everything was spotless. The pool was heated and we swam both days despite temperatures in the 50's. The grounds were immaculate and the area is its own little oasis. I would definitely return!

Look past the chains to a true Arizona boutique hotel. The Lodge is beautiful and a gem in Tucson. Pricing is reasonable and is less than the Courtyards, etc.
The rooms are spacious, have fireplaces, large bathrooms, and are QUIET.
i highly recommend the Lodge on the Desert for business and/or leisure travel when you happen to be in Tucson.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the Alvernon side

The hotel helped get us an early check in and late check out. The service was unbelievable. There was never a second we were there that people weren't helping create a dream anniversary for us. If you go, you cannot miss the restaurant. Ryan Clark is an AMAZING chef. I am a bit of a foodie and my mouth was tantalized by his combinations of flavors. Additionally, they were accommodating when I needed to alter a salad at lunch. I really can't see enough good things about staying here. My husband and I will definitely be back. I am a little sheepish when I say that I am definitely missing the jacuzzi and the fireplace. It was sad to come back to reality after a completely magical weekend.

I stayed at the Lodge pm the Desert for 5 days, December 3, 2011 - December 8, 2011 and it was the highlight of my trip to Tucson.

On arrival the hotel manager was in the lobby, he offered to give me a tour of the property and rooms and let me choose the room I wanted.

The fireplace and private patio were very nice, the fireplace especially because the temps went down into the 20's every night.

The room was spotless, I truly believe this is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in and they have real coffee pots in the room and very good locally roasted coffee.

The restaurant was good but not enough variety for a 5 day stay, the menu is small and the same every day. The restaurant staff can also be a little snooty in the evening but it is still probably the best restaurant in the area.

If you are going to Tucson don't even think about it, just book your stay at this hotel, it is a 5 star without a doubt.
