My wife and I plus some friends spent the night of my birthday at this hotel. We quite enjoyed the location, the ambiance, the staff and the facilities. It was extremely quiet and we liked that a lot. The rooms are very spacious and were completely clean (as one would expect at the price). We had drinks in the bar to start the evening and had a bit of a laugh with the bartender. The following morning we enjoyed the spa / pool (nice / heated but not hot for the pool) and then breakfast in the restaurant. We thought everything was really great but did think the pricing was just a bit excessive. Try the breakfast parfait for a different sort of healthy treat.

Room Tip: We had a nearly poolside room and enjoyed the convenience.

Stayed in one of the traditional fireside double queen rooms for five nights. This was our second stay at the Lodge.....our first was in 2011. Our expectations of another great stay were met. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was large, clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We love the pueblo architecture and the southwestern charm of the traditional rooms at the lodge. Upon check-in we found that our fireplace pilot light was not on.... A mere call to the front desk solved the problem promptly. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful and very well maintained. The indoor/outdoor restaurant/ bar area is a very inviting space and the bar serves the best margaritas in Tucson and anywhere else we have ever been. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were very good, except for a breakfast burrito that I thought was too dry. We used the spa and pool area, a very aesthetically pleasing and relaxing spot, centrally located on the grounds of the lodge. We appreciated the free wi-fi in our room. This was another wonderful vacation in Tucson and at this price point, we could not think of a better place to stay than the Lodge on the Desert.

The Lodge was a new experience for us. My wife and I have relatives in Tucson but have a policy of always staying in a hotel...never with relatives. Thus, wherever we travel, we're seeking a nice hotel. My wife had found several options in Tucson...however, close friends recommended the Lodge. And, what a nice surprise it is. Centrally located so it's is easy to get around Tucson...the restaurant on premises is excellent and serving three meals each day. If bored with that, lots of other restaurants nearby. My wife located two nearby yoga studios and discovered that Ike's Coffee Shop has wonderful coffee and croissants...and, it's relatively close. We really like the exterior of the Lodge, in its old Tucson construction, with the walkways and easy access to the front desk, library, and swimming pool. Everyone is very friendly and always helpful...our stay was wonderful and we'll stay there again on the next visit to Tucson

Room Tip: Ask for a king size bed with the fireplace...always a room at the top to minimize flow-through noise

we have wished to stay at Lodge for quite a few years on recommendations from good friends. We bowled over by many aspects- service, attention to our needs, the grounds, location.....yet as far as room there's rustic/retro then there's just a room in need of repair. The spaciousness was fantastic, the bed very comfortable but the tub peeling from some type of coating, the water closet teeny round old un-water usage conscious, loose sink faucets, old carpet, small arm chairs which smacked of yard sale pick ups, bare bones esthetics. All this could've been cool and tasteful yet wasn't. Our gas fireplace was a nice touch and would've enjoyed hanging out for the evening in front of it (after 2 calls to front desk to get it lighted) reading , talking ...if maybe something as simple as a foot hassock was included in the this spacious room! Wish we'd had our swim wear as the spa and pool were very welcoming. so overall we'd stay again for the service, bar/restaurant *(especially happy hour and service- but I'll rate both in another entry/category), location, grounds- yet would be hesitant depending on price. Also locating rooms with outside room signs very confusing, they could be redone more logically, spent a lot of time walking thinking we were in vicinity of our room only to find a dead end and backtracking..

Room Tip: only have stayed in one room so couldn't offer suggestions here.

Our first choice to stay in Tucson, especially when they run specials. Everything is superb! Beds, rooms, service, spa/pool, grounds, bar, etc. Captures essence of the 'Old Pueblo' in Tucson's glory days--before it got so crowded. A real gem--centrally located.

Room Tip: Never stayed in the older, original units. But new ones are terrific. Really doesn't matter--f...

This is a lovely place to stay and the staff is terrific. We may have stayed here five times while visiting family and have never had a bad experience. My sense is that the staff is treated well and they reflect that in the way service is provided...always warm and friendly. The restaurant is very nice even though I am not a fan of Southwest food. Lorena has a welcoming manner and will always try to adjust dishes to one's liking.

It lacks a gym but, given all its other good qualities, it becomes less of an issue.

Extremely comfortable extra large double queen room with adobe fireplace. Superior bedding. Original hard saltio flooring. Sparsley furnished w/ need to upgrade wear and tear. Terrific pool area and cozy spa. Modest restaurant. Great value and overall comfort and very polite service for family's or couples. Request second floor with view of Catalina Mountains.
