“A Tucson Treasure”

This is a wonderful place to stay. As a Tucsonan, I recently needed a stay-cation and my first thought was Lodge on the Desert. I drive by it weekly and am aware of its history.

Staying alone, I felt safe and comfortable. The restaurant has a fabulous menu with lots of gluten free options. The roasted red pepper tamales with squash over creamed avocado is to die for! The staff is friendly and fun. The bed was great. The old adobe rooms are clean and relaxing. The bathroom was roomy and inviting.

I've lived nearby for over thirty years and can recommend it wholeheartedly, even in the summer. In fact, you can't beat the value or the beautiful pool and spa during the hot months, and if you're lucky, the Monsoon will entertain you with an impressive light show as well.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the adobe rooms near the back of the Lodge. There is some traffic noise near the...

My wife and I have celebrated our last two anniversaries in Tucson and we stay at the Lodge. The thick adobe walls of the individual housing units ensure a quiet environment. The fireplace adds the ambiance and the grounds are lush with fragrances and color. The pool, with the flowing falls, is the perfect swimming pool. They have a restaurant on the grounds that allow you to have a superb meal without ever leaving the facility. We recommend the Lodge to all of our friends and we will be back for our 48th Anniversary.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a Jacuzzi tub. They are mostly on the backside and a bit more quiet.

We will definitely return!! The accommodations, staff and food were amazing!!! The Lodge was close to everything we needed to do. We were visiting from out of town and the front desk was very accommodating in helping us get around town.

I've stayed here annually every August for the past 4 years. I love, love, love this charming adorable hotel. While it is in a convenient location relative to U of A (less than a 5 minute drive), it does seem to be "stuck" in the middle of a residential area. There is no place near by to walk to.

Once you enter the property however, you forget all about the minor "negative" above. The grounds are very well kept. All employees are extraordinarily kind. The bartenders are just the right amount of chatty- happy to carry on a convo, but can read when you'd prefer not to talk. The restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Tucson. Real food, healthy, local ingredients, expertly prepared. The deserts is great, the tamales are great, the wine is great- really no complaints. A+ Chef!

The rooms are spacious and each have a bit of their own character. There are stand alone casitas which are the older part of the hotel and then there are newer more traditional hotel rooms standing two stories tall. Every room has some sort of small outdoor space or balcony. There is plenty of parking convenient to your room and the bathrooms are just gigantic. The towels are of excellent quality- thick and fluffy. There is also a small fridge and microwave in each room.

The hotel has lots of summer specials due to summer in AZ being the low season. For a very reasonable rate, my booked "package" also included 4 free drinks (there was just one of me staying for two nights) which were redeemable for any drink on the menu at the restaurant. Talk about a great perk!

This is a cozy spot to stay for business or pleasure. Wifi is free and there is a pool near the lobby.

I just spent three nights at Lodge on the Desert for the first time. Really great stay. Friendly staff, very clean rooms, and a nice restaurant (only ate there for breakfast) that was fairly priced. Good food selection including gluten free items. My room size was generous and included a whirlpool which I didn't use. For the record, my bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I'm picky.

FYI, I think most of the rooms are detached from the main lobby and are two stories. I couldn't find an elevator so I'd ask. They do have ground floor rooms. As for value, great price.

If you want a break from the large hotel chains and the mega hotels and are looking for something smaller and quaint, and great value, look no further.

This was a great hotel! Everyone who worked at the hotel was very nice and helpful. The room and grounds were clean and spacious. The pool was fun and the property was very kid friendly.

My only complaints were no sheer privacy curtains along with blackout curtains. Our window looked out on the parking lot so we had to keep the blackout curtain closed for privacy but it would have been nice to have had natural light available through a sheer curtain. Not a huge issue though. The refrigerator was a bit noisy too but it was super nice to have one included in the room!

This hotel was a great value and the restaurant was reasonable too.

Room Tip: I could imagine the rooms near the pool could get a bit loud with people playing in the pool. If th...

The Lodge was like an oasis in the desert. Relaxing, roomy, really comfy & spacious room!!! The kind of place that stands out from the norm!!!! With service to boot!!!
