We stayed in this hotel 6 years ago, when it was a Travelodge. Then we were not fully satisfied, but we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Wrong choice.
In several discount guides we found coupons for this hotel. One coupon was for $29.95 a night, valid thru nov.30, 2005. When we called to make a reservation, this offer apparently expired. (we arrived the first week of november). Another coupon was for $34.95 a night, including discount coupons for the Sonora Desert Museum (best value in Tucscon, fantastic).
But when I asked to get that rate, the computersystem was down, so she couldn't check availability. Just show up at the hotel.
When we got there we couldn't get the rate, we had to pay $49.95 plus tax a night. We planned 3 days in Tucson, so we decided to stay here the entire visit anyway. It's still not a lot of money.
The "friendly" lady at the reception, noticably chewing her chewing gum, didn't know what we were talking about when we asked for the Sonora DM discount coupons. So, we didn't get any.
Later, when we got into the car, which was parked near the reception, the reception "lady" was standing outside, looked at my wife, spit on the ground and then smiled sheepishly at my wife again. This didn't look very, let's say, professional.
The room was okay when we walked in. It looked better then 6 years ago. Only the kitchen was the same old thing. We had to leave a $40.00 deposit for kitchen utensils (which were old and dirty by the way).
At night we discovered another problem. The fridge made so much noise, it was impossible to sleep. And the noise never turned off. So we had to turn off the fridge completely. So much for our frozen goods.
The first morning, we left the hotel at 10.30 am. And at night, when we returned, the room was not done at all. Only, our non-smoking room smelled a lot like smoke (we quit smoking a few years ago, so it definitely wasn't us). So, that did it for us, we decided to leave the next day and ask for a refund on the third night we had to pay in advance. There was another, friendlier lady, at the front desk, who gave us the refund we wanted.
This has been the worst experience we had in the US, and we stayed in about a hundred different hotels over the years.
We are sorry to say, that this was the second and ceratinly last time we will stay at this hotel, while visiting Tucson.
