“Front desk person rude!”
Reviewed 22 May 2012 via mobile

I needed to use the shuttle service, my destination was within 5 miles of the hotel. The woman at the front desk was very rude about it. I understand that the shuttles priority is getting hotel guests to/from the airport, but relaying that to a guest of the same hotel needs to be with compassion and understanding. She was very brass and rude. She got me so upset I was ready to check out of the hotel and find another place to stay. The driver of the shuttle changed my mind, he is very friendly and kind. I have nothing but good words to say about him.

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Place Tucson for a long weekend in April. The hotel is nice, the room was clean, well appointed that included a refrigerator (which is much needed in the desert to keep your water and beverages cold).

However...

While checking in, we did have a problem with the assistant manager. She wouldn't let us check in (platinum level member), while all the other people were checked into their rooms. The problems with her were a complete waste of time. Good thing Jaime manning the front desk was there. Otherwise, we would have left. He knew she was way out of line and he resolved the problem. If it wasn't for him, we would have left and never would have come back. Also, I would have rated this hotel with a better rating if it wasn't for the a/m being a complete jerk!!

So, kudos to Jaime and to Carla, they both went out of their way to make our stay special.

This Hyatt Place needs to realize that it's the people that make the stay special. Not the a/m.

Room Tip: The folks at the front desk were very helpful with maps and locations. They also have a nice list o...

I can not believe how warm and helpful the staff is at this hotel. They could not do enough for me. I dropped my rental car off at the airport and needed a ride back. The front desk gentleman was actually waiting for me at the airport! I called to say that I needed a ride back, and the woman at the front desk said, "he's already there for you". WOW!! Service! The same staff also prepares the meals at the hotel. Seems a bit odd, but again, the service was impeccable!!!

Kudos to the staff at this hotel!! I will stay here again for sure!!

The hotel is also about a 1/2 mile from the airport, again, another great feature!

Was recently in Tucson on business for one week and stayed at the Hyatt Place near the airport. I did not know what to expect but my entire stay was great - no complaints. The place is somewhat new so everything is new and fresh. Rooms are spacious and have a large sitting area, huge flat screen tv, sofa and large ottoman, a desk area with ample plug-ins, well lighted, a medium sized mini-fridge, quality in-room coffee, actual glass ware (no paper cups), an in-room safe. The bath is normal to small size, but good water pressure. Decor is fresh and modern. The staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. They get an A+ for their service. The lobby has a nice breakfast area serving high quality foods and presented well. I was pleasantly surprised at the breakfast spread. Very good coffee. They offer items such as plain greek yogurt and "signature" breakfast sandwiches. All served on real plates - no paper or styrofoam which is great and adds a sense of class. Very well done. Also, they have a small bar in the lobby offering beer, wine, cocktails and a 24 hour menu of quality salads, sandwiches, pizzas, quesadillas, fresh baked cookies, etc. Everything I had was quite good. They also have an outdoor pool and a nice fitness center. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located right at the airport, although, we were driving in. The hotel is a little different than most. There is no actual restaurant. There are food and drinks served in a part of the main lobby. The breakfast was served by a buffet or off a small menu through an opening window. Then you found a place to eat it in the lobby area. The rooms were very nice, with huge flat screen tv an tons of outlets for other devices, and chargers. The rooms were also large enough to have a good size sofa and desk, small kitchen area with fridge and sink All in a very modern tasteful decor.

When I arrived check-in went smooth. The front desk staff had their stuff together and check me in with efficiency. Very warm and friendly staff. Interior of the lobby flows well with modern decor and furniture. The rooms were very well appointed with plenty of towels and extra pillows. The rooms are large with ample room for working and sleeping. Two doubles and a pull out couch. Rooms were spacious! The only concern with this room was the toilet which was wobbly and not correctly connected to the floor. Additionally, the shower floor was dirty with balck, greasy footprints. Where the Hyatt Place has really upped their game is in the breakfast. The new sandwiches, pastries, waffles and other items are top notch. This is no ordinary continental breakfast. Delicious and complimentary.

Friendly staff for our return visit. I had asked for a ground floor room with King bed and we got it -much appreciated. Lets hope we get it next time when we have a small group. Staff coped very well with crowds as the Tucson Gem Show was on. Over the last decade we have tried 5 or 6 of the Tucson Airport Hotels and Hyatt Place is the best. However always check the daily cost as our room price was thankfully lowered. $150 per night while the Gem Show is on is acceptable but competition is all around with the Holiday Inn Express having a much better breakfast. You can get a cooked breakfast at Hyatt for a fee.
Although close to the airport our room was quiet and there is lots of free parking.
We hope to return next February.

Room Tip: Request a ground floor room.
