“Excellent Airport Property”
Reviewed 7 December 2008

Affordable, Brand New!!!

Stayed in Dec. 2008, Rooms are very comfortable.
Sleep number beds and decent linens, good pillows, decent water pressure in the shower, nice towels for a Garden Inn, Free WiFi in the rooms, Flat Screens TV's etc.. I paid a extra $15 and upgraded to the Junior Suite, well worth it for some extra room.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The business Center is well equipped and services are free

1.5 miles from the Tuscon Airport. If you need to stay by the airport, this is a Great Choice.

Stayed at the new Hilton Garden Inn in Tucson for a quick one day business planning meeting. Rate was $129/night through our company rate. Stayed in room 202, all the way at the end of the hall, farthest from elevators. Hotel just opened in March so everything is very new. Hotel has 3 floors.

Arrived at airport Sunday evening and called hotel for their free shuttle. Van came within about 10 minutes or so. Hotel is close, but definitely not walking distance. It's actually just off of Valencia Rd, behind a Circle K and across from McDonalds. Better location than the other airport hotels if you don't have a car, since you can walk to the restaurants.

Hilton Garden Inn has a full restaurant which was great since I had no car. Able to order dinner until 10:00 pm, had a great char-grilled burger and fries for about $10. They also have room service. In the morning they have a full breakfast for $9.95 including eggs and omelettes cooked to order, make your own waffles, toast, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, juices, coffee, cereal, etc.

Room itself was great. Very comfortable bed, lots of pillows, 32" flat screen TV with most cable channels and HBO, small refrigerator and microwave. Closet had iron and ironing board. Desk had plenty of room and a Herman Miller ergo chair. Free wireless internet access, no problems at all getting connected. Bathroom had shower with granite tile and glass door (no tub). Interesting shower head. Only complaint was that it took almost 5 minutes to get hot water to the shower in the morning. Probably due to the room location at the end of the hall and my getting up at 5:00 am.

Also, the air conditioner seemed quite loud. It wasn't too hot this time of year so I hardly used it, but I don't know that I could have slept with it on.

They have a very nice lobby and about 4 excellent meeting rooms if you need to hold a business event. We had about 8 people, met all day in "the Boardroom." Coffee, water, juice and pastries in the morning, fresh cookies, soda, drinks and nuts in the afternoon. Paid for by our meeting planner, of course, but good quality and service. Boardroom also had a 50" plasma screen on the wall that we were able to connect to for presentations. Wireless internet worked as well.

Quite a few people in the restaurant area for lunch, good quality food and service overall.

They also have a nice looking pool -- not overly huge but it does have a lazy river around it and a cabana with food options during the afternoon. Didn't appear to be open quite yet, but would be fun for a family during the season. Also had a nice gym facility, all new equipment and plenty of space.

Due to the meeting facilities and food options, this is a great hotel for business functions. I'll most likely stay here again. My other preferred hotel in the area is the new Hyatt Place which is right by the airport. Hyatt room is a little smaller and doesn't have the food or meeting facilities to compare with the Hilton Garden Inn, but it's still a nice hotel and very new.

  • Liked — Dining options, bed, internet
  • Disliked — hot water in shower took too long in morning.
