This eating and walking tour combines two of my favorite things. In the course of 4 hours we tasted a vegan entree, sweet dry sausage and Icelandic cheese, corn pudding, Beaujolais Nouveau and a memorable chocolate mousse. Also mushroom ravioli, four different kinds of flatbread pizza and Himalayan salt. And more wine. Definitely not your ordinary food tour.
Some of these foods have a historical connection to Salem -- they were consumed or traded here during the 18th C. Trading ports attracted a cosmopolitan population willing to try new things. Karen took a few minutes here and there to fill in historical place detail, but the city's venues were the main attraction. You cannot help admiring our beautiful architecture, views and pathways!
For a local, it was a treat to meet the hardworking people who manage the restaurants and shops, prepare the menus and design for a market niche. Thanks so much! It was a great tour!
