I spent one night at the Salem Inn in Salem, MA with my 2 adult children and niece. We were packing in as many witch attractions as we could before we had to take my niece to the Logan Airport.

Check in was easy. We were assigned to the Peabody House which was two doors down... Not a big deal. There was plenty of parking behind the house and it was easy to access. The house is three stories - we were on the second floor in a "suite". There was a queen bed and a twin bed with a trundle.

The reason I'm giving only three stars was because the room was in great need of updating. The wall to wall carpet was wrinkled, the bathroom paint was pealing, the love seat was dated... That said, the room was very clean and the AC worked good. The queen bed was very firm, but not bad. The towels were clean and seemed newish. The shower was fine (good water pressure), though very dated.

The breakfast was in the main building (two doors down) and was very nice. The quiche was yummy and the fruit fresh. The coffee was great!

If they give the Peabody House a few updates, it will be a 4 or 5 star hotel!

I loved my huge, homey room with canopy, bed, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and private balcony. My room was very reasonably priced with plenty of on-site parking behind the big Victorian house where I stayed. The staff were very accommodating and overall I had a very enjoyable stay. I would definitely return!

Clean but dated.Good linens and bedding.Loved the jacuzzi but it could be bigger. The colors are very subdued which can be good if you need to be soothed. If going for a romantic getaway one can have a nice time.

The Inn has two properties. Parking is available at the annex which is about a block away. We were in the main house, on the second floor. The Room was huge, and comfortable. Really charming drop down desk, and comfortable bathroom with good amenities. Ice machine on first floor was also nice to have in a small inn. Room was quiet, bed comfortable, and location was excellent for exploring the witching part of town, but a good distance from the harbor front. The lobby had an excellent restaurant guide, with menus from about 60 local places. It may be only 18 miles from Logan Airport, but it was still an hour drive at 7am.

A hotel that is within walking distance of the major attractions of Salem; particularly, the Salem Witch Trials.

The staff are very accommodating. A continental breakfast is served between 8 AM and 10 AM.

The room that was on the first floor of their facility and was very large and including a kitchen.

We have trouble climbing stairs and recommend that you ask for a room on the first floor if you have trouble with stairs.

Room Tip: We are seniors and recommend a room on the first floor. The hotel does not have an elevator.

If you want to stay in an historic building then fine, and the location is pretty good and the rooms are comfortable. However, it is not cheap and we were in a building five minutes walk from the main Inn and therefore five minutes walk from breakfast. Mind you, the breakfast was probably the worst we had in a two week road trip around southern New England - cold buffet, 100% carbohydrate (unless you like melon) and limited choice.
