Owner description: Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The latest renovations began in 2007 and cost about $1.6 million, compared with the $7,000 Lambert originally spent to open the park. It is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

What a pleasant spot. We went not knowing what to expect. We were visiting and wanted a "break from the action". The grounds are gorgeous, well maintained, and highly recommended. Although not a traditional type Tea Garden this is no shortcoming. Water features are well thought out and the foliage is supportive of displaying beauty. The only thing I would change is the provision of a traditional Japanese Tea House.

The Tea Gardens were beautiful. It was worth the stop. Make sure to take a walk about the full gardens to really appreciate what went into the design.

The gardens are gorgeous and make you happy to be alive. We were surprised to see an awe inspiring waterfall. The entire area looks like something out of a painting. Go and take a good camera.

This is an old quarry transformed into a wonderland of paths and bridges. The koi are large and the place is amazing and it"s free!
