M-Star San Antonio SeaWorld
Ranked #213 of 357 Hotels in San Antonio
Reviewed 19 December 2010

My wife and I are on a 7 week holiday around the southern states and needed affordable accommodation in locations that allowed us to get around without a car.
The M Star has very attractive and comfortable rooms ( granite showers etc) and was located near bus stops ( 40 mins to downtown), a mall and restaurants- but that is where the positives stopped. Throughout the 5 nights we stayed there we were often woken up at various hours of the night/morning by very loud ‘beeping’ noises. After the first night we asked management about this and they told us it was our smoke alarm, even though we told them it was coming from outside. The motel has a lot of ‘rules’ posted in its lobby and one was ‘no room changes after check in.’ To this day we don’t know exactly what the sounds were but our guess is some type of alarm in the motel, guests car alarms or a buzzer from the Shell service station located next door- the noises were worse on weekend nights. We were also frustrated with the management checking in other guests at 4am in the rooms next to us when the motel was over half empty.
The wi-fi was poor, our dinner tray did not get cleaned in the 5 days, the breakfast was minimal and only ran until 9am and there were ants in our bathroom- we put up with these things as we are budget travelers, and had paid upfront through a hotel website.
The management informed us that they have only been operating the motel for 4 months, and taxi drivers told us that it used to be an Econo Lodge. So all previous reviews are for the old Econo Lodge. Basically, if you want uninterrupted sleep dont stay here.

I decided to book this room for our spring break vacation because of the good reviews after the renovation. Our room was ready at check in and the staff was very nice. Our only problem (and some may consider this a big one) is that there was a strange odor in our room (room 105). There was not another room available, but the staff did come in and spray everything down. We stayed for 4 nights and we had to do this every night. Other than that everything was clean. Just a note - previous reviews say the mall is across the street. It is very close, but is not within walking distance. It is on the other side of the highway. The continental breakfast was very lacking, we ended up eating out for breakfast everyday. Muffins and some juice. But again, this is a value hotel and it was in very good shape with a great location. If you are just looking for someplace to lay your head at night, it is recommended. About 10 mintues drive to seaworld and about 15 -20 mintues to airport and downtown. There are many places to eat close to the hotel and a gas station that is within walking distance.

Our experience at this hotel was really pleasant. We arrived late with our two kids and after traveling 6 hours we were looking forward to really relaxing room and sleep and we got that at this hotel. Especially when we paid a very reasonable rate, this place gave us the feeling of "home away from home." The fact that it was so close to Seaworld was an extra bonus, I would recommend this place to both the business and leisure travelers.

We were looking for a hotel that would be close to some of the major attractions, including Sea World and Fiesta Texas, and would still allow us to easily drive into the city. The location of this Econo Lodge fit the bill, with the unexpected convenience of having a mall right across the street. The rooms themselves were recently upgraded with new carpets and furniture. A great feature was the free wireless, which you often have to pay for in higher end motels. In this case it was free, and it definitely came in handy when we wanted to look up local restaurants for dinner. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Can't beat the combination of location, quality, and price!

We stayed at this hotel during our family vacation to San Antonio. We picked this place based on affordabilty and location. I was very impressed when we got there! The rooms were newly remodeled and very clean. We felt the quality of the rooms were comparable to many of the higher star hotels we've stayed in the past. I highly recommend this hotel!

My daughter (20years old) and I stayed at the Econo Lodge Ingram Park for 2nights. This hotel had just gone thru renovation and was a great value for the money. New carpet, towels, fluffy pillows, marble vanity, new porcelain tub and marble shower. The room had microwave, fridge, in room safe and wireless internet. Only 5 miles from Sea World and across the street from the Ingram Park Mall. Hotel serves light breakfast of juice, coffee and muffins, but there are also several restaurants within just a few miles from the hotel, McDonalds, Wendy's as well as Olive Garden and Texas RoadHouse. Great value for the money. The parking area is very limited, but was never full when we came in even late at night.

Great value for the money!!
