Church, which is beautiful, and grounds are well presented and in excellant condition. Displays very helpfull in describing the history and way of life of the mission.

If you enjoy history and learning about the missions, there is more to see here. We went on the park ranger tour. I recommend this as there wasn't as much to read here about the mission.

We love the grounds of this mission and the chapel is lovely. It is not far from downtown so it is not hard to find and Mission San Juan is close so you can see both easily. They have a nice welcome center with information and a movie (we did not want to stay that long so we did not do the film.)

Truly beautiful mission. The chapel is still in service as evidenced by the beautiful bride we saw the day we visited. Immerse yourself in the history & you will really enjoy it! Visitors center with restroom facilities right outside the mission walls. plenty of parking. Park rangers are there to answer any of your questions. Expect to walk but pathways are clear & easily negotiable. Tons & tons of beautiful details for the avid photographer. Enjoy!

I visted Mission San Jose as part of a bus tour (Alamo Tours). We had an informative and amusing guide. The missions are too far out of town to walk to, and I had no car. Mission San Jose is the most complete of the San Antonio missions. Be aware that it is largely a reconstruction. Nonetheless, it showed me things I had not seen before, like the living quarters of the Indian converts complete with ovens and wells, and a mill out back where a docent was demonstrating how to use water power to mill flour.
