“Well worth the trip”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

The Mission was well maintained with docents to provide free tours. There is no fee to tour the property and you can roam and take pictures of the entire grounds.

“Frontier Life”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Since the temperatures and humidity were in the mid-90's during our visit, we opted to take a trolley (though not on rails so am not sure how it can be called a trolley) tour which included two of the four missions in the area. The NPS tour guide was an excellent source of information about the people and history of the mission. We found the disparity in life span (40 years inside the mission walls and 44 years outside the walls to be quite an indicator of how tough it was nearly 300 years ago. Taking the guided tour left little time to explore on our own to keep with the one hour schedule the trolley was on, so we took the tour at Mission San Jose and did our own exploring at Mission Concepcion. Buy your souvenirs HERE, as the other missions were hit and miss with the gift shops.

“Mariachi Mass was spectacular!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

The Sunday 12:30 Mass is a great service to attend. There is a mariachi band that accompanies the choir which is spectacular!

“Love the old missions!”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Visited Mission San Jose on a mission tour while in San Antonio for a conference. Our tour guide was most informative and loved sharing information with us. Especially interesting was the Rose Window...not only is it beautiful but imagining the story behind is a mystery.
