We stayed in
Wyndham La Cascada for 3 nights and enjoyed it. One bedroom suite was spacious, it made us feel like home. Since it was our first time in San Antonio, Tx the employees helped us to find our way around the town and get to events and places that weren't popularized in travel brochures. We loved it. Hotel is situated on the Riverwalk, but outside the noisy area. It takes about 10 min walk to the LA Villita, Riverwalk, Market Place. La Cascada had free shuttle for their guests, so car is not needed if you plan to spend your time around the city.

Stayed here for a week the end of September. We had a one bedroom condo on the 6th floor which was the same floor as the swimming pool which we had occasion to use.

The room itself was furnished with all the amenities we needed. I especially liked the split bathroom so we had two sinks which made it easier getting ready in the morning. The kitchen was equipped with everything we expected. There was a small table and a sofa with two chairs. We had a king size bed and there were two large TV's. We had a small balcony but it overlooked the roof of the building next door and a parking lot. It was so hot that even if we had a great view we would not have able to enjoy it because of the heat. The room was also very clean which is a plus for me.

The hotel is advertised as being at the end of the Riverwalk. Technically it is but to get to any place on the Riverwalk where there are restaurants it is at least a 15 to 20 minute walk. We are in our 70's and found the walk to be a little long especially with temperatures hovering near the 100 degree mark. I think the hotel is a little out of the way and there was nothing in the immediate area. There was a tiny little convenient store at the hotel but the prices were at least 3 to 4 times what they should have been. There are also no restaurants that you can walk to near the hotel.

I thought that the valet parking would be a pain but it worked out fine. The cost of $15 seemed a little high but when we parked in town one day at a hotel their valet parking cost was $30. I think you definitely need a car to see all that San Antonio has to offer. Of curse with tipping the valet parking cost more but the car was always ready when we wanted it and we felt secure about leaving it with them. We could see a parking lot from our balcony which was about 3 blocks away but didn't know how secure our car would be there overnight so for us the valet parking was fine.

The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and were very knowledgeable about the area and were able to answer all our questions. The exception being the time share vultures.

When we arrived we were told we had to get a wrist band which will give us access to their shuttle bus. Of course to get this band we had to go to the desk in the lobby which was manned by their time share people. We had repeatedly been pounced on by them every time we walked into the lobby. We even had phone calls from them. Why can't they understand that no means no.

The hotel had a shuttle service which we used on a few occasions but we found it difficult to use and we had trouble finding out where we could get it and when it stopped at various stops. On one occasion we were told to go to a certain place near the Alamo to get it but after waiting 45 minutes for it we ended up walking back to the hotel. On another occasion we were told the shuttle would be at a particular stop at one time and after waiting for at least another 45 minutes fond out that it did not stop at that stop at that particular time so we took a taxi back to thotel. We have been at other hotels that had shuttle service and have never had problems like we encountered there.

We found that the best way to navigate the area was to walk to the Riverwalk for dinner or to go to the various places in the city and when finished to take a cab back to the hotel. We paid about $7 with tip for a taxi.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. I was awed by the Riverwalk and we spent a lot of time there. The Riverwalk runs through the city and you can access it from almost every street. We ate at a lot of wonderful restaurants. I think the prices are a little more epensive on the Riverwalk but where else can you have this ambiance.

We traveled to several small cities nearby Went to Fredericksburg and did some of the wineries. Also went to Bandaras and another small town to a restaurant that was recommended to us. We drove and walked around the King William district which was the most beautiful area of the city. Of course you have to visit the Alamo and the tour we had there was very informative.

We had a wonderful time but I don't think I would stay at this hotel again because of the location.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 6th floor which was right near the swimming pool. Our view however was not goo...

After spending an entire week in San Antonio La Cascada, i am compelled to rate the resort as a 4.5. Since there isn't a 4.5, I erred on the more conservative rating. The resort is located in central downtown San Antonio, right on the Riverwalk, but don't be fooled... It's still a 10-15 minute walk to the busy part of the Riverwalk, where you'll likely spend your time. The resort was clean, had nice amenities, and strangely, the valet parking was convenient. Be prepared to pay for the valet parking, though, which is the primary reason i erred on the conservative side for my rating. You'll find the valet parking fee in your paperwork fine print. $15 per day seemed rather expensive for a parking fee, even though it was valet. Don't get me wrong, the vehicle was ready each time we requested it and the valet service is conveniently available 24x7. There are, however, alternate parking lots where the daily fee is between $5-$10. They are also a short walk. It's not as convenient, but worth checking into.

As for amenities, there is a small fitness room available, as well as a pool table, and a pool & hot tub (6th floor outside). The condo size rental is great with an equipped kitchen, large size shower, jacuzzi tub, dining room, living room, and king size bed. The balcony was lacking on our side of the building, but I did see larger balconies on other areas of the building. All in all, we like the resort and if we book in San Antonio again, we'll return to the same location.

I cannot rate appropriately on price since we used our timeshare to book the resort.

I am not aware of a restaurant inside the resort, though there is coffee available anytime of day or night.

I cannot rate appropriately on room service either since the rooms aren't cleaned in the midst of a one week time share visit. I am rating based on the fact that our room was clean & orderly when we arrived.

San Antonio has plenty to do to keep you busy for a week and the location of the resort was convenient for perusing downtown, the Riverwalk, traveling to adjoining towns, going for day trips, etc.

Traveled for only one night to San Antonio after watching Cowboys/Vikings play as Texas Stadium. The resort is almost new and in a great location. About a 10 minute walk from the center of the River Walk. Very quite. We had a 1 bedroom deluxe suite. Very large living room area with a full kitchen. There is a hot tub and pool on the 6th floor roof. My son-in-law and I were in the hot tub at 7:15am on the day of check out. Even though there was a slight drizzle it did not stop us from going into the hot tub. In the lobby there is a small lounge area, large TV and a pool table. All resort employees were very friendly. We did not go to the time sharing presentation only because we were pressed for time. When in San Antonio would definitely suggest staying at La Cascada.

Room Tip: We were in room 208 which had a balcony with a small sitting area.

We stayed here for three nights for our first visit to San Antonio. Good location, not far from downtown attractions, river walk and Alamo. Parking is $15 per day in a nearby lot with valet parking but we didn't use our car for the entire stay so it wasn't a problem. We found walking and mass transit to be the best way to get around, even took a bus to the AT&T center for a Spurs game. One thing I didn't like was the annoying sales pitch, presented as our welcome package to La Cascada an San Antonio. Our welcome to the resort turned out to be a 3 hour time share sales pitch that was totally unwanted. Our one bedroom unit was spacious, two flat screened TV's, whirlpool tub and even a washer and dryer en suite. Also the free wi-fi is always a welcome feature for us. We would definitely stay here again but would turn down our welcome packet next time.

We stayed here for two nights and the place is clean and very comfortable! The two bedroom suite is very roomy. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms and livingroom and kitchen. Your suite has a washer and dryer too. A very nice balcony to sit out on also to enjoy the nice view of the river walk. Our friends had a timeshare for this place and do it every year. There is only valet parking at this hotel which is nice cause you can let them park your vehicle and not worry about someone doing something to your car or truck. It does cost 15 a day. But once you park pretty much you can walk to everything in the area. I enjoyed that!

Had a great room and an enjoyable stay at La Cascada, the shuttle was great but should not have stopped at 5 pm. Coming back from river walk at night is quite a walk and it is hard to find a taxi.
There is nothing open by the hotel at night so you must go a ways away for dinner.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows!
