We stayed at the Wyndham Riverside because it was centrally located and on the river. The Wyndham provided free shuttle service to the Alamo and Spanish Market. There was also the public trolleys and bus service available within a short walk. The water taxi and shuttle were available right below us and there were variety of restaurants available right at your door step with entertainment choices. Our room was located on the fourth floor and we had it directly overlooking the river with the rooftop balcony next door. Great spot and location. Room was more than big enough for two people and very comfortable. Full kitchen and laundry which was great. The decor was very southwestern. Staff was pleasant and even helped out with tips on where to go, eat (the hospital next door was fabulous for breakfast and even dinner, exceeding my expectations, restaurant quality food at diner prices) and even arranged transportation to airport. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will be back. Never had any problems with music being too loud. Drawbacks were the entrance is in a one way alley and the door is locked, registration desk is on the second floor. They normally have a security guard at the entrance, but would recommend calling hotel before arriving in evening to let them know to have someone open doors when unloading luggage. The other was we had to move to a different room at the end of vacation, due to owner coming in to use their timeshare. Since we are timeshare owners ourselves this wasn't that big an issue and it was just next door. But be aware of this fact and ask upfront if this will be the case. We were told at time of check-in. Also fitness center and pool not available, you have to go to sister resort, The St. Anthony's (I think) didn't use it and wasn't an issue.

Room Tip: THe higher the floor the better the view.

Although this resort does not have the same amenities found at other Wyndham resorts, my wife and I felt at home. Right on the riverwalk and next to Joe's Crab Shack. What else can you ask for? Highly recommended. Very close to the Alamo. Great staff, too!

The front entrance is ugly and abysmal. Park across the street, check in on the second floor, unload, then park in the garage down the street. We had a "deluxe" one bedroom, room 706. Nice view, 2 full baths. The sitting area is tiny. The kitchen area is small, but adequate. Spiral staircase to bedroom= 18 steps. If you have any mobility issues do NOT stay here. The bath tub is difficult to get in to. The jacuzzi filter was dirty, so no tubbing for me. The electric outlet in bathroom did not work. So I had to go downstairs to dry my hair. Hot tub on balcony...hmmm, when was it last inspected? Water looked funky. No hot tub for us. Nice wall lights by the bed, but you have to get out of bed, and walk across the room to turn them off, very inconvenient. The bedroom is tiny. No place to put suitcases. Two people cannot get ready at the same time. All in all a convenient location, but a lousy place to stay.

The Wyndham San Antonio Riverwalk is located on College St. near the heart of the River walk just above Landry's restaurant. Parking is located down the block across from the Omni La Mansion in the parking garage and costs $12 a day for unlimited in and out of the garage. (If you fail to return the electronic card, you will get charged $70.) The Wyndham does not have river walk access as the Landrys and The Kremlin restaurant occupy the River Walk levels. Our 2 bed 2 bath condo was roomy and comfortable. It had a small kitchen and we usually ate our breakfast there at the condo. The room near the condo entrance had no window and was quiet and completely dark. The room with the view of the Riverwalk (two windows) had lots of light from the riverwalk and the noise level was high. Bring some white noise making device if you go to bed early and are a light sleeper. For a family or two couples, this is an ideal place. The condo consisted of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room/dining room/kitchen area. The condo also has a washing machine. The shower in the room with a view was handicap accessible and included a seat. The registration desk is on the second floor.

First let me say that we are owners of two Starwood timeshares, and they are wonderful and set the bar high. So our expectations were fairly high. First problem: finding that the entrance is just a door with an awning over it. Its total confusion trying to figure out how to check in. Someone came out and asked if we were checking in. Having been told we were, he got a luggage cart and loaded our luggage. Then advised my husband to go down the block to the public garage and park, while I checked in. I was directed to the second floor to check in, where I and my luggage cart were abandoned. I checked in and then waited there for hubby. After about 10 minutes I went back down to the lobby, a tiny room no bigger than a small bedroom. Finally my hubby got back, having driven nearly to the roof to find a parking place. You pay $12 a day for parking, but that guarantees you nothing. There are no spots set aside for the hotel, and the city only charges $10 a day for the same spots. And don't lose your parking pass. It will cost you $70 to replace.

So OK, here's what we booked: A one bedroom condo unit with king size bed, full kitchen with stove and oven and washer and dryer. Here's what we actually got: a one bedroom unit with a queen sized bed in a bedroom so small the width of it is the bed with a nightstand on each side. A king size bed would have touched the wall on both sides. My husband is 6'1" and weighs about 260. Needless to say, my side of the bed is about 2 feet. The pillows on the bed are small square ones like throw pillows. But none of that really matters because you aren't going to get any sleep anyway until after the bars close down at 2:00 am. If you face the riverwalk you will hear loud music, talk and laughter all night. And the kitchen? No stove, no oven, just a solid surface 2 burner thing on the tiny countertop. And the washer washes clothes but there is no dryer and they say it takes more than four hours to complete the cycle and you will still have wet clothes. So we could not cook in and had to eat every meal out. Even in Maui we always cook many of our meals in. And forget doing laundry. And there is no housekeeping other than emptying the garbage daily. Honestly, i can't think of anything much good to say about this place, and you couldn't pay me to stay here again.

Room Tip: No amenities whatsoever. No onsite parking. No sleep because of noise from bars. No place I would...

Thank you for the review. We are sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with the room and resort accommodations. We apologize for the noise you encountered from other guests, as we know this interfered with your relaxing vacation. Our goal is to make each guest feel at home by providing some cooking amenities and laundry accommodations. Please know this is considered a historic property so the architecture is not designed to accommodate a full kitchen and the dryer uses steam which takes a bit longer to dry your clothing items. Please also note that we offer both deluxe king and executive king units so we encourage you to confirm which room has been booked prior to check-in. Because we have condo-style resorts, certain hotel amenities such as housekeeping do not exist. We strive to provide this information to the guest through our website, pre-arrival letter and confirmation letter. We apologize for any confusion and will work to better communicate this through additional channels in the future. We are sorry for your experience and greatly value your feedback.

If you enjoy a place with characters this is want to stay at. My wife and I got the two-level penthouse and had a great view of the Riverwalk. A tough climb up the spiral stairs to the bedroom but still very nice. The entrance is not the Riverwalk. Its kind of sketchy, reminds me of New Orleans, the French Quarter. But the place is clean very nice the service was great. Great staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

If you are lucky to get a room on the River Walk side, you will find this a magnificent location for a timeshare exchange or rental. Right in the middle of the River Walk opposite the Hard Rock Cafe.
Having notified the hotel twice prior to arriving, we arrived @10:00 PM and the friendly staff gave us an upgrade as our room was no longer available. The upgrade involved two floor and a spiral staircase, private hot tub and balcony...which we had to vacate two days later. We have been partially compensated according to their offer and my request...with hopes the rest is forthcoming. All in all, they did make San Antonio a must-go-back again vacation city.!

Room Tip: Be sure to as for a booking in one of the rooms facing the River Walk.
