We really liked this place. Not an easy to find entryway for cars, but after driving round the block a couple of times, then it was obvious. Parking the car was around ramps, but each floor had access to the rooms, so it was quite convenient once we got the hang of it. However parking was $14 a day, added to our room charges.
We were given room 207. A "deluxe room" with two Queen beds. Very large with double windows overlooking the river. But no balcony to go out on. The beds were lovely. An assortment of comfortable pillows. At 5:30pm we went down to the lobby for "happy hour". Oh my. Copious amounts of Chicken Strips, Macaroni and Cheese, Hot Dogs, soup, Salad Bowl, chips and salsa, baked potatoes with trimmings, soft drinks, wine, hard drinks. On the house. We ate and watched football on the big screen TV. It was a nice afternoon. The following day, we went down the elevator to the Riverwalk. No stairs, isn't that great? We explored the riverwalk, took one of the riverboat excursions at $6 a person. Then we got off and found an ice cream parlor and sat watching the world drift by. Later in the day we ate at an Irish restaurant on the river, and bypassed the Drury happy hour. It was very nice with excellent service. The weather was perfect in mid September.
The next day we visited old friends who live there, but got back in time for the happy hour "dinner"....
The hot breakfasts were just as good too. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, muffins etc.
The location of the hotel is terrific for the Riverwalk. The service was friendly and efficient. I wanted to buy a magazine for our road trip, but there was no Hotel Shop. Nor was there anything outside near the hotel. Just a busy street and lines at a bus stop. Which is why I can't give 5 stars. But it is still a great place and we will happily return when we're in the area.

Room Tip: Pay the little extra and get a "deluxe" room.

I read some of the reviewers that rated this hotel poor or terrible. You know, some people just have to be unhappy to be happy. This hotel is an historic building. It's a former bank building complete the teller cage for checking in. The lobby is beautiful and the location is downtown people! There's sometimes "undesirables" who hang out at bus stops and in the parks. The hotel has nothing to do with that. The building is secured after dark and you must slide your room key in the slot in order for the elevator door to open.
Esmeralda was very nice at check in. She found out we were there to celebrate our 30th anniversary and to our surprise, she arranged for a bottle of nice red wine and a box of dark chocolate covered almonds (my husband's fave) to be delivered to our room. You will not encounter an employee who doesn't speak to you.
They offer hot breakfast with all the usual items including biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, etc. It does get crowded because weekends tend to get busy. The 5:30 snack time was generously stocked with baked potatoes, Mac and cheese, hot dogs, popcorn, adult beverages and fountain drinks, just to name a few.
It's s non smoking hotel however people smoke on the balconies and unfortunately it stinks up your outdoor enjoyment but oh well. Until San Antonio becomes smoke free you have to take the good with the bad.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great place to stay right on the river, with a great location. Very nice free breakfast and food with drinks between 5:30 and 7:00 PM. Very friendly staff and clean rooms. The one BUT, I have is the drunks and homeless that hang in the back of the hotel, which is the Front of, Texas Land & Cattle Steak House, located on the river in the hotel building. If you don't mind them (the drunks) then, this is a great place to spend a weekend!

We have been going to this hotel every Thanksgiving holiday since I was about 18. I am now 25. We used to stay at the Marriott or Hilton but my mom decided to stay here to save money. We haven't been back to either of those hotel since. This place is never a disappointment. I always feel right at home when we get here. I love the breakfast, first because it's free, and secondly because I LOVE WAFFLES. You also get free sodas all day and they give free popcorn and nachos in the evening. You are also on the riverwalk and can walk down to watch the river boat parade. I love going to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. I have such good memories! We eat Thanksgiving brunch at either the Marriott or Hilton. I was also allowed to bring my dog Baxter when he was still a puppy. The beds are ALWAYS comfortable! Make sure to go to Fiesta Texas, Sea World, The Shops at La Cantera, North Star Mall, Quarry Market, and last but certainly not least Mi Tierra or La Margarita at Market Square. I have such fond memories of all these places. When I go without my parents I feel incomplete since we have been doing these things since i was just a kid! San Antonio and Drury Inn= happiness

This Hotel was exceptional. We were very impressed. Every single staff member was courteous, friendly and helpful. The hotel appearance was beautiful, and in a great location. The most impressive benefit was the hot breakfast and the afternoon hot snacks including drinks. and yes that includes 3 alcohol drinks. We sat around watching all the guests while enjoying the quite time. It seemed like the hotel was well booked but we never experienced any delays. The pool area was nice, hot tub and warm pool was very clean and we enjoyed it many times. If i could make one it would be the cost of parking. I was not accustomed to paying for hotel parking, but i am assuming it is the normal for the area. The hotel was on the quite side of the River walk and we had one of the best restaurants "Land and Cattle Steak house" right under the hotel. I have never been so impressed with a hotel. We walked down the river walk several times and never felt unsafe... To get into the Hotel, you had to use your key card, which made us feel very safe...

Stayed three nights - had a suite. Large room with comfortable bed . Furnishings and decor is past it's prime. Staff is great. Breakfast was free and mediocre.

Parking is a hassle because garage is so small and tight. The location is good. A decent value but not great. Free popcorn and fountain drinks was a nice bonus...

We are glad to hear you found our location to be appealing. Downtown locations do create some parking challenges though, as the space available is at a minimum. We are very happy to say that our hotel will be seeing some changes to the decor beginning this fall. We would love for you to have a chance to see them! Thank you for staying with us, we will continue to listen to feedback in order to deliver one of the best hospitality experiences San Antonio has to offer!
