My husband and children were looking for a room to stay while we visited six flags fiesta Texas and since he stays at holiday inn for business we thought we'd give them a shot. First off they offer NO continental breakfast at the very least. Come on how hard is coffee juice and doughnuts? Instead you are offered a 10% discount to their onsite restaurant. Secondly we were given the option of a late checkout and we took it only to find the wifi no longer worked the second day without an additional password that we had to call down for. Lastly, the room was stuffy! We lowered the ac to 69 degrees in an effort to cool the room and it struggled all night. Save your money and head on down a bit further for a better hotel!

I am a priority club platinum memeber and stayed with them for 2 weeks. Entire staff gives excellent customer serivce...They will go above and beyond. They always remembered my coffee and banana in the morning. : ) All Hoilday Inn should be like them!

Room Tip: overall any room would be good, hotel is less than 2 yrs old

Spent a week in San Antonio for the 2012 GSA Tradeshow & Expo. First time in San Antonio. Great time of year to come. Summers get pretty hotttt! I'm a regular Holiday Inn customer and was very happy with the staff and services. Definitely a solid 3 star hotel with a 5 star in services. Manager Shawn Kenworthy does an excellent job as General Manager. Being so far away from my home in New York, Shawn and his staff really went out of their way to make us feel at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the San Antonio area. Staff recommended Smoky Mo's for Barbeque and it was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We normally stay at the Residence Inn Marriott Stone Oak in San Antonio. This trip we thought we would try the Holiday Inn Stone Oak. Here are the Pros: None. Here are the Cons: The cooling from the air conditioner (window unit) does not cool without humidity coming into the room. The room is muggy and the carpet is damp. I keep the thermostat on 70 and on high speed; The lighting in the room is inadequate. There is one bulb missing from each lamp and the can lighting in the ceiling is flourescent and is awful; the coffee service in the room was missing all of the condiments; the carpet is damp and unpleasant to walk on; the tv reception is awful. Beware that if you have a dog you have to initial a form stating that you do or do not have a dog. Their pet fee is $75.00 which is insane. Our dog is a bichon and is clean, house broken and well behaved. One more thing - there is NO complimentary breakfast or coffee bar for the guests. I will never stay here again. Back to the Marriott for us!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel.

I just returned from a one night stay at the Holiday Inn Hill Country. The decor is very sophisticated and modern. The main color scheme is gray and black with touches of orange. The effect is very restful and pleasing.
The hotel is only about 18 months old, so everything is still in great condition. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom a good size for the room. We came in late and did not have a chance to eat at their restaurant or use the pool.
My only complaint is the location. Be careful when pulling into the hotel from 281, the entrance is somewhat hidden and we missed it the first time around. We had to U turn further down the road and try again. Once in the parking lot, you cannot circle the building as one end of the lot is blocked. Also, there isn't much to choose from as far as restaurants in the nearby vicinity.

I previously stayed at this hotel during 2011 and was quite pleased with my stay. However, during a recent stay at the Hotel, I was not satisfied at all with my stay. I checked in on March 22, 2012 along with my husband and two kids. The following day, we left the room at around 11:20 a.m. At the time we left the room, we removed the do not disturb sign and on our way out we encountered the cleaning crew who were working on the rooms adjacent to ours. We said good morning and went on our way. When we returned to the room at around 5:30 p.m., the first thing that we noticed was that no one had cleaned the room. As a result, I called the front desk and inquired as to why the room had not been cleaned. I was asked if the do not disturb sign was on the door. I replied to the lady that the sign was on early in the morning but we took it off before we left, which was at around 11:20 a.m. The lady replied that it was common practice for the facility not to clean rooms when the do not disturb sign was on. She also mentioned that the room would not be cleaned since the cleaning crew had already left for they day. The only thing that she offered was to send someone with towels. Fifteen minutes later, a lady came to the room and brought in towels and toiletries. She also emptied out the trash. I have stayed at many hotels (from 2 stars to 5 stars) throughout the U.S., Mexico, Europe and Northern Africa and have never encountered this type of problem "ever". It is unacceptable for a hotel to skip such an essential part of the hospitality industry as cleaning a room. All other places have the crew come back to clean or call the room to inquire if you want it cleaned. It just shows a lack of excellent customer service and laziness from the staff. There is no excuse: the do not disturb sign was removed, we left the room early and the cleaning crew saw us leave, so they knew the room was available to be cleaned. I am extremely disappointed in this hotel. Needless to say, I will not be recommending it to anyone.

Stayed for two nights on business.
PROS:
New, clean, efficient.
Quiet (I had a room facing the parking lot on the 4th floor.)
Good value.
CONS:
Miles from anywhere (San Antonio has urban sprawl, and too few freeways.)
Commuting in the morning and evening from this hotel can take some time.
Walls seem thin....could hear the folks in the next room.
Noisy AC.
