“Some perks, some peeves”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

The staff were always nice and helpful. The breakfasts and evening snacks were hot an well stocked - even when it was super busy. The rooms are well sized and have all the things you need/want. The pool is a good size. The beds was comfy. And, kids LOVE the glass elevators. Because of all those positives, I said "Very Good". However, I would like to be able to say "Good, not great". The room felt very used - there were a lot of stains on the coach, carpets and curtains. The tub needed a good scrubbing, and there were disturbing spots on the sink faucet and door handles in the bathroom. Also, the room always felt damp - and we were there on cool, non-rainy days, so that seemed odd. For a family vacation, it was a great location and the amenities we needed. But, if I was traveling on business or a romantic weekend, I'd be unhappy.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. More economical than River Walk sites. Clean room with comfortable king bed. Secure parking area, good shower and quiet nights. I-10 nearby was easy access but did not create any noise for our room location.

Room Tip: King bed and shower in Rm 119 were comfortable and pleasant.

My family of four stayed at this Drury location for two nights while traveling through Texas. Our first impression was A+ due to the fantastic treatment we received from John while checking in. John gave us an upper floor room as requested, and did it with a smile. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, free kickback meal and breakfast. Just checked out this morning, and my favorite Drury guy, John, called me by name and wished my family safe travels. I couldn't have asked for a more family friendly hotel. Thanks, John and Drury!

We have not stayed at a Drury in years. We took a quick trip to San Antonio. staying 2 nights. Indoor pool was great for the kids. There were a few people in the pool area that I wondered where they came from, but you can't control the type of people that stay somewhere so that is not hotel's fault. Rooms were clean, & spacious. The Happy hour from 5:30 to 7 was great. Kids were impressed and enjoyed the food and snacks. Adult drinks were very yummy! Breakfast in the morning was great, nice choices, and very well layed out. Staff was beyond kind. It was a perfect stay for our family of 4 for a few quick nights!

I stayed here on a business trip. The hotel is conveniently located on I-10 and there are plenty of food options around if you have a car. I have never stayed at a Drury Inn and I probably never will again by personal choice. The hotel was picked for me based on the proximity to my business meeting, but I was not happy with the fact that there was hair in the bed (i.e. were the sheets changed before I got there) and there was also hair in the shower that definitely wasn't mine. That staff at the front desk is very pleasant. The one thing I forgot that they don't bother telling you is you need your hotel key to get out of the parking lot so don't leave it in your room when you leave.

We stayed at this hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday and were very impressed with the accommodations and the friendly staff. They serve a free hot breakfast that includes everything from waffles to bacon, sausage, eggs, or cold cereals. The have free "snacks" in the evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Their idea of snacks are baked potatoes with all the trimmings, chicken strips with gravy, hamburgers and hot dogs, pizza, a salad bar and a nacho bar. They have a soda fountain with free sodas all day as well as free coffee and free popcorn in the lobby. We were so impressed with our stay over the Thanksgiving holiday that we stayed there over Christmas as well. When booking our Thanksgiving stay we joined their Gold Key Club. We received an email coupon for 20% off of our next stay plus a free upgrade. Our Thanksgiving stay was in a regular room and it had a microwave and a small refrigerator, and a coffee maker in the room. Our upgrade room had a sitting area. The couch was a hide-away bed. It had a kitchen area that included a full size refrigerator, a two burner stove top, microwave, coffee maker, and a dishwasher with clean plates, glasses and silverware. If you are traveling with a family this would be a great place to stay. With their free breakfasts and dinners you can eat two good meals a day there for free or cook in your room. There is a major chain grocery store just across the intersection. There are plenty of restaurant options in the immediate area ranging from inexpensive to fine dining. It is conveniently located between Loop 410 and Loop 1604 on Interstate Highway 10 for easy access to wherever you may be going. We were also impressed that they had given their housekeeping staff Christmas Day off. We are very much impressed with this Drury Inn and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to or thru San Antonio.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper or have trouble falling asleep I would recommend asking for a room with t...

This was a great hotel overall. I can't say enough good things about it, from the staff, to the lobby, to the food options. The only downside was the broken elevator, one of the two in the lobby, which was broken for all 5 days of our stay.
Other than that, this hotel was absolutely great. Starting right at check-in, the front desk staff were great throughout our entire trip. They were very friendly, and helped us with anything we needed.
The rooms were fine, nothing special, but clean, decent sized, and certainly nothing to complain about. While the rooms may have been somewhat average/slightly above average, everything else was not.
One of the slogans at the Drury hotel is that "the extras aren't extras". They really deliver on this. Besides a better than average free breakfast each morning, they had other benefits as well.
From 5:30-7:00 pm each night, they have free snacks/dinner, which includes hot dogs, baked potatoes, salad, and another entree such as chicken strips or macaroni & cheese. Obviously, its not the highest quality food, but its free, and a great extra bonus.
In addition, adults get a card for 3 free drinks each night during that dinner period. They also have free popcorn and a soda fountain in the lobby each night for anyone to help themselves. I've never seen all these extras at any other hotel before.
Beyond the front desk, there is an extremely large lobby area for sitting/gathering. If you are traveling with any kind of group, this lobby is great. There's plenty of room for 2-3 different groups to gather in the lobby without any crowding at all. There's also a Ruby Tuesday next door if you're looking for a change of pace.
The first 10 rooms on each floor overlook a large open area that goes all the way down to the lobby. Also, the 2 elevators in the lobby have windows in the back so you can look out over the lobby from above, and also can be seen from below. A nice touch that makes the hotel feel a little classier. Which unfortunately leads to the one complaint....
One of the two elevators in the lobby was broken when we arrived on Wednesday, and STILL broken when we left on Sunday. I've never seen a hotel elevator that broke and wasn't fixed (or at least worked on) in the next 24 hours. This one was broken for 5 straight days. Looking at other reviews from 3 months ago, they also mention a broken elevator. I have no idea on the background, but I certainly hope this elevator hasn't been broken for months and is being ignored. The wait for the elevators was much longer than normal because the hotel was down an elevator, and even worse on Saturday night when there was a function on the top floor and the caterers were using the elevator to transport everything.
If it wasn't for the elevators, this hotel would have been a perfect 10. As it was, I'll still give it 5/5 because it was probably more like 4.5/5, but deserves to be rounded up for all of the other positives.

Room Tip: Rooms 1-10 on each floor overlook the main lobby down below. Downside is that might come with noise...
