As we were told, our hotel room was supposed to be "really quiet." Well, it ain't; not even close. There is continuous noise and sounds. Before we made the reservation we asked repeatedly about the noise level and we were told that it is quiet. Of course the fact they have white noise machines, even in their most quiet rooms, along with ear-plugs should say something. The charm of the rooms and facilities is undoubtedly high, but the noise is also high. Also, the entrance to the hotel is filthy, with papers and wrappers strewn all over the place. For what one pays to be in this hotel, it is not worth it. I am disappointed.

Room Tip: if you need a quiet environment to sleep, please select another hotel. Even their "most quiet...

Thank you for taking the time to write this review on the evening you checked-in at the Riverwalk Vista. We do appreciate your input. We offered to help find different accommodations at another hotel without charging the guest for the nights they have booked. He declined and said they love it here. Perhaps it was a hectic travel day for them and once they were settled in they felt different. They even brought business associates up for a tour of their room and the common areas. The Riverwalk Vista is located in a prime location; we are a few steps from all the major tourist attractions which is a huge attraction for all our guests.

We stayed at the Riverwalk Vista Inn for New Year's, and it is just too charming for words! While the outside of the hotel looks a bit dodgy, sandwiched as it is between a McDonald's and a Subway (the reason that I didn't give it 5 stars), the interior is wonderful: wood floors, high ceilings, great service, cookies and cocoa at 3 PM, a glass of wine at 5 PM, and close to all of the major attractions! We were just across the street from access to the Riverwalk, and less than ten minutes from both the Alamo and the Tower of the Americas. Very cozy, very welcoming, very much a great place from which to explore San Antonio.

This may be a great place for you...or if you are bothered by noise not so much. Personally we like the ambiance of a place much more that slight inconvenience. The Riverwalk Vista is an old 1800's warehouse converted to a 20 room hotel. Real downtown and directly across the street from the Riverwalk. The age of the building is very neat. Wood floors and doors. Old furniture that shows the wear and tear of time. A very comfortable bed. Flat screen tv. A modern bathroom with tile floor and walkin shower. Robes. A very good breakfast prepared in the kitchen each morning. Excellent host or hostess. Cookies at 3. Wine from 5 to 8. Easy walking distance to all downtown locations. All in all just a very neat place. Go to Googlearth and take a look at the building and location. Yes there was some street noise but the location and facilities greatly took away any inconvenience that caused.

Room Tip: There may be some rooms further from the street. If this will be a problem just call them and ask.

The location is perfect. A block from the Alamo, right across the street from the riverwalk, and a few blocks from the bars. Atmosphere is very comfortable and the staff goes out of their way; from cookies and wine in the evenings to home cooked breakfasts. There is no on site parking but there is a public parking garage less than a block away at $15 per night. I will stay here when I am in San Antonio again.

Room Tip: Stayed in the standard room and was more than enough space for two people.

It's a fantastic boutique hotel...with nice rooms, cosy atmosphere, friendly people and some extra's such as breakfast, afternoon cake & glass of wine included... and on top of this all, it's ideally located next to the riverwalk. We had a great vacation and I'll surely recommend it...

What a fantastic location in San Antonio, just across the road from the Riverwalk! A charming, old world hotel. It is daunting from the outside at first, as there is no front desk on the street level - new arrivals have to ring a bell at the front door for access and there is limited street parking to unload luggage, then the car must be driven to a parking station further down the street. Once we were inside however, we were able to relax as we settled into our spacious room, and shared a complimentary glass of wine, then headed out to the Riverwalk to choose from the many dining options. The breakfast next morning in the dining room was delicious - I would stay here again!

When we arrived in San Antonio and my husband pulled the car up to this hotel, I really had my doubts about his choice. However, we were both pleasantly surprised when we went inside and saw all that this historic hotel had to offer. David, the manager and the one to greet us, was charming and showed us all around this boutique hotel with only 17 rooms on two floors. There is no main desk - you do all of that in your own room. Our room had the charm of being old with the high ceilings and wood floor, etc. but with the modern conveniences of wifi and modern bath. We were given complimentary wine as we looked around and got settled in our room. Every afternoon a freshly baked bread or pastry is also served. The bedding and towels were first rate and very comfortable for sleeping. Breakfast was a freshly made hot egg dish and then regular continental fare of fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. choices. Everyone sits at old wooden tables in a common area that is "old charm." Also, on each floor there are little sitting nooks here and there, some overlooking the Riverwalk. The reason this got four stars instead of five is because it was not convenient to park and unload luggage - had to haul it up a flight of stairs and the parking was a public lot off site. Also, on the bottom floor of this old building was a McDonald's and some homeless people hung around. You had a code to let yourself into the building and it did feel safe enough, but it was just not as convenient. Also, it was noisy in the morning with traffic, etc. However, the convenience of walking across the street to get to the Riverwalk outweighed the noise! I would stay here again in spite of these slight inconveniences because the overall experience was wonderful.
