I was in San Antonio for a conference. I avoid the big chain hotels and look for small historic places. The Riverwalk Vista is a gem. Right on the Riverwalk and 2 blocks from convention center and the Alamo. Great history. 17 rooms. - all large comfortable rooms. Everything is wood and leather. Excellent staff (I met Catherine and David). Who not only make you at home, but also cook breakfast, make cookies and lemonade in the afternoon, and put out wine and snacks from about 5 to 7. All included in a reasonable price. Try this place - you'll love it too.

The Riverwalk Vista hotel is located in an old Historic building. The Inn is comfortable with a staff that is friendly and helpful. The location is great, cross one little street and your at the River Walk. The Alamo is only one block away. Breakfast is included with your stay. Due to it's downtown location the street noise to some may be a little bit of a problem but if you have ever stayed in a downtown location it is not bad. The Inn has history and is listed on historic Inns registry. Beds where comfortable and rooms well equipped. The only negative was the air conditioning units in the room can be very noisy.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the McDonalds side if noise is a concern.

Historic and great location. It's a converted mercantile store and has been nicely done. If driving in, be prepared for challenging street patterns and a short time to unload in front of hotel. Then you need to self park in a public garage across from hotel. We had room 302 which faced the river and was very spacious but a bit of late night traffic noise from street upfront. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Enjoyed a warm fresh complimentary homemade breakfast each morning while being entertained by a free oldies jukebox. Patty and David were gracious and very helpful innkeepers. A great value for the location. Also don't be intimidated when pulling up to hotel and viewing outside as it is nothing like it appears. Very beautiful inside.

If you are visiting San Antonio, staying at the Riverwalk Vista can be a highlight of your trip. This small inn is located within walking distance to almost everything you have to see in San Antonio: El Alamo, La Villita, the Riverwalk, etc. The innkeepers will make sure you have a delicious and plentiful breakfast every morning; homemade cookies and lemonade in the afternoon, and a glass of wine for relaxing in the evening. They will also give you a guide to the area restaurants and will make your reservations. The hotel does not have a restaurant but you don't really miss it, with the good breakfast and the multiple restaurants nearby. The rooms are spacious and have every comfort you can desire: bath robes, toiletries, a refrigerator with root beer, a teddy bear in your bed....
If you happen to be in San Antonio for Fiesta parade make sure you stay in the Chili Queen room: you will have the best views of the parade. I was given ear plugs in case the noise interfered with sleep but I did not need them.
If you travel alone, as was my case, staying at the Riverwalk Vista will make you feel at home. I could go on but I can resume my stay with this: never before have I felt a little sad when leaving a hotel. Thanks to the people at Riverwalk Vista for making my stay there a memorable one.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms are near the dining room, good for grabbing your glass of wine on the way to your...

We recently stayed 2 nights at the Riverwalk Vista. The location was good for us, riverwalk across the street and Alamo around the corner. Other reviewers had concerns about the security, and the McDonald's. We had no issue with that, and no problems entering or leaving the hotel. The parking lot was also not an issue, it is very close to the hotel. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was lovely. We enjoyed the sitting areas on both the second and third floors, our family was able to relax and talk. The furniture in the rooms, was a little more worn than the photos show, however not bad. We enjoyed the quaint, relaxing atmosphere.

The hotel is just across the street of the riverwalk, but you don't pay riverwalk prices.
It is a historic building that has been nicely renovated. The room was big with high ceilings and had a beautiful bathroom with only a shower.

Every evening there are cookies, wine and a delicious lemonade for the guests in the commun livingroom.

There is no hotelreceptionist present at nigt, but you get a digitcode to open the front door so you can return to the hotel whenever you want.

There isn't a private parking, you can use the public parking ( at 200 meters). Its price was affordable.

Our first night I got to use earplugs: I heard music. Apperently this came from The Mc Donalds on the groundfloor. They must turn the music down after 10 PM but didn't do it that night.
The second night it was calm. Although, this was the hotel we loved the most during our Texas trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the Mc Donalds

This charming hotel is located well within walking distance to the main attractions of the Riverwalk. It's also a short drive to the Missions of San Antonio. The entire staff was exremely knowledgable and the rooms were nice and spacious. Our room had two huge windows that offered great views of downtown. There is no onsite parking located at the hotel, but there is a very convenient and affordable garage parking around the corner. You have to ring a buzzer to first gain access to the building, however, a code is given upon check in so that you may come and go as you please. The staff made a homecooked breakfast every morning that is quite delicious and offer wine and desserts with dinner. The building itself is a historical site and quite unique. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to San Antonio and highly recommend it.
