This was an excellent stop for dinner, would highly recommend it. The menu has lots of variety, the enchiladas were very good as well as the chicken chalupa. Enjoyed a cocktail before dinner, that was a nice balance of flavor. The wait staff were excellent, very helpful with menu questions and the food was very prompt. The chips, salsa and guacamole were difficult to stop eating prior to the meal.

We were seated outside, the waiter was rushy, there were so many flies that we had to cover our food to avoid them landing on our food. This caused us to take longer to eat. Another waiter came to take our food but we weren't finished yet which he couldn't tell because we had to cover our food. The last part of this bad experience was when the manager asked us to move to another table because he said he needed the table for a reserved party, but we had a reservation. Other than that the food was good.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated promptly. Waitress came over told us of a Nice Shrimp Coctail for and special appetizer. So we ordered that. Came back to table said sorry, we are out of it. This was 730 pm. So i ordered Ceviche......back 2 minutes, sorry we are out it. We ordered Flameado con queso, waitress asked if we wanted it with chorizo or Duck.......We chose the duck, OUT OF IT. Seriously, 730 on a Sunday night and they half the menu? I had a mojito (VIRGIN) i am thinking, wasnt any alcohol in it...my wife that doesnt drink, said it doesnt taste like theres alcohol in it. We had the queso flameado, cheese tasted like white american cheese with white cheddar mixed in. Tasty but not much flavor. My wife had Chili Relleno and i had the carne asada tampequenia......they saved themselves on the entrees.....Awesome. We ordered Flan for desert, Fairly certain we have bought the same FLAN at Sam's Club.

Found La Fonda on TripAdvisor and decided to drive 10 minutes north from the downtown. It was well worth it. La Fonda had the feel of a neighborhood restaurant, and the food was excellent. Probably the best Tex-Mex we had during a week in the Lone Star State. The server, Uriel, was wonderful, and he provided needed explanations and a couple of appreciated suggestions. Recommend eating on the patio if weather permits. All in all, a great choice, with well-prepared dishes, exceptional service, and reasonable prices – salad, mains, drinks, and a shared dessert (pumpkin cheesecake) for $65. Plenty of off-street parking.

We had terrific food, fish tacos, chicken enchiladas, mole enchiladas, and tres leches. The food was well prepared and the service was helpful and friendly. There is a wait even if you have reservations and parking is right across the street. The restaurant is popular but still quiet enough for a conversation. The ambiance is romantic with soft lighting. Drinks are excellent. This was my second visit and it was a nice as the first visit.
