“Great San Antonio Fire Fighters History”

A very nice venue to highlight San Antonio history of those who serve!

Good historical perspective.

The antique fire trucks and fire fighting equipment are nicely restored.

“A great place to visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

My husband and I have ties to the fire service. We were staying at the Marriott's Springhill Suites Hotel for the weekend for my niece's wedding downtown. How happy were we when we walked right past the museum to go to the Riverwalk and it was their Grand Opening celebration! What a great collection of fire equipment, gear and history. We spent over an hour there and took lots of pictures. The staff (former firefighters) were, of course, very knowledgeable and very friendly. There are plans for expansion of the museum in the future. I highly recommend this museum to families and anyone interested in the fire service. It's just a short walk from the Alamo and the Riverwalk.

“Fantastic Collection of Old Firefighting Equipment (and Old Firefighters!)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

San Antonio's big, old Central Fire Station behind the Alamo is now home to a first rate fire museum. The place is full of historical equipment, photographs, restored vehicles, and real retired (unrestored) firefighters. The place is clean and shining. The retired firefighter volunteers are friendly and welcoming. They’re happy to let you wander on your own or give you a free guided tour. They let the kids get on the back of the trucks and even ring the bell or hit the alarm to signal an emergency. The admission “suggested donations” are low ($3-4 if I remember correctly). What a fun place! We will go back for sure!

“If you're a fireman..paid or volunteer, this is a MUST see!”

Nice place to visit . The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. Every fireman should stop in and support them. Had to drag my fireman husband out of there.

“Great family attraction in Downtown S.A. !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

We have always seen the old S.A.F.D. Station downtown, but noticed this trip it's now opened as a Fire Museum! This recently opened non-profit museum (former fire station and 2 minute walk from the Alamo) is dedicated to the history of the San Antonio F.D. The volunteers that work there are mostly retired FF's, and are full of great stories and explain the history of how FireFighting and its equipment has changed over the past century. Im a current full time Fire Fighter / Paramedic in Corpus Christi and my wife and kids loved the museum. They even have a gift shop. When you visit, please donate. They are a non-profit organization and run on donations.
