Wow! did this tour with GARY YESTERDAY and loved it!!!! Justin's is great ice cream and we are eating at Bella's tonight. So interesting and the tour isn't just about eating...architecture and history also. Easy to do the walk and lots of breaks and bathrooms!!!! We highly recommend this and do it when you first arrive and get away from the chain restaurants. Gary has other tours we are going on also.

Fork in the river was the perfect combination of culinary excellence and historical interest. Also had an architectural focus due to the varied styles of buildings on the Riverwalk. The different styles of the venues we visited where a special surprise... From from a gourmet ice cream parlor, a mercantile for San Antonio specialties available also for online ordering, to a few exquisite eateries with celebrated chefs. One of the chefs even took us on a tour of his kitchen. This tour was a great way to get a feel for this exciting city while taste testing some truly unique culinary creations.

We loved the tour! We've been on several food tours before and we both agreed this was tied with the best one. Gary blended history and architecture highlights with fun food and some very serious food. A mercantile for Texas chili and some amazing strawberry habanero jam, 4 flavours of ice cream at an ice cream parlour and three amazing restaurants where the chefs actually talked to us and we even got to tour Bruce Auden's kitchen! All on San Antonio's famous River Walk. We learned so much and ate so much! A great value and we actually thought he didn't charge enough. If you love great food, like to walk and learn, you need to go on this tour! We have made reservations for dinner at Bella tomorrow night, the taste was that good.

The Fork in the River food tour was so much fun. We got to sample gelato, salmon nachos, bread, a shrimp dish, and other amazing food on the Riverwalk. We were stuffed after the tour and did not need dinner afterwards!

We try to do a food tour on all of our trips. I find it is a good way to see the city you are in and get a feel for local food. This tour satisfied this goal. We got some great local history and architecture, we covered quite a bit of downtown and had some really good food. While it was a really good tour it has not been our favorite. It just felt a little disjointed. I can't put my finger on it but it just didn't flow. I think it would be better if it was maybe expanded into 2 different tours. 1 for the gourmet type foods and 1 for the sweets and more base stuff. It is still well worth your time to take this tour. We would have liked to have had enough time to revisit a couple of the places we got to sample.
