Why the average rating? Well, because this seems to be on par for the course of old people diner food in Texas....but be warned that doesn't mean it's necessarily good. We went as a double date for Friday night dinner after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives....starting to think Guy either has no taste buds, has slim pickings for places to feature, and/or network forced him to pick this place. I had the chicken fried steak, which was HUGE, but mostly tasteless. Very bland. Gravy was bland. Side salad was sad. Steak fries were ok. My husband had the oysters and said the same thing I did about my dinner; very bland. The other couple had the oysters and a BLT, again stated as being bland and unremarkable. Decor was sad. Staff was friendly and prompt. The place was busy, lots of people in and out the whole time we were there. The food reminded me of the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, but BBC uses somewhat more seasoning than Tip Top Cafe, though not by much. We will not be going back to TTC, nor would we recommend it to others as a place to seek out unless you're looking for giant portions of bland food.
