“Basic, but simply one of the best BBQ”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

Don't expect much from this small, very basic restaurant in terms of service, location or ambiance.
The promise is simple: the best BBQ! and they deliver!
If you are around San Antonio, trust me and the rest of reviewers, you can´t go wrong here.
Don´t get surprised when you ask for bread and they give you a complete loaf of white bread inside it's plastic bag!
Every time I go to San Antonio I stop here.
Beef Brisket is amazing

“Down to the basic good grub”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

Don't expect silverware or a pretty plates when you visit Rudy's. However, what you do get is lip-smackin' BBQ in a variety of assortments in a pleasantly primative setting. Enjoy the crackling fireplace during wintertime and/or cool lemonade or a cold beer during the summer. Oh, do not forget to order the creamed corn and the peach cobbler. It is simply out of this world. Definately a place to visit for out-of-towners. FYI - military discount is offered.

“Deeelicious!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

On our fight to San Antonio we met a couple who were flying back home. They told us that we have to try this restaurant. Boy, was that some good advice. Food was amazing! It doesn't look like much when you drive up but man, the food is unbelievable. My husband said the beef brisket was unreal! Definitely try this place!

“"Absolutely Yummy Food in a Gas Station Restaurant"”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Visiting San Antonio this summer when I was told we were on our way to have some of the best BBQ in Texas. I was not disappointed! Had been told in advance not to be put off by the fact that the place was basically a restaurant behind a gas station....or was it a gas station in front of a restaurant? Large group of us waited in line together where we were (friendly) advised how and what best to order for our large group -- a "family style" selection of several kinds of deliciously BBQ'd meats and some tasty sides. Bonus...we were given an entire loaf of white bread to share since there were so many of us. Chose to sit indoors on this hot afternoon at a picnic table surrounded by cute/funky decor. I shall always retain a fond memory of this experience of yummy food in a gas station restaurant. Smile.

“It's not just a meal. It's an experience!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

The food is excellent, but it's the whole experience that's worth the trip. You order your meats by the pound, and it is placed in butcher paper. Your order your sides in various sizes depending on how many people are sharing the side. Then you get a bunch of white bread to use like utensils to pick up your meat, and keep your hands from getting messy. I never did master the white bread technique thing. You take your food to a picnic table and spread out! Everything I have eaten there is delicious, and I leave so full I could pop. It's really fun and funky and a place for a great meal.
