“Oh My Goodness!!!”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

We had heard about Big Lou's for some time but never had the chance to eat here. Well, we made special arrangements on our latest trip to San Antonio to make a stop at Big Lou's... and OH MY.... are we glad we did! There were six of us... and as much as we wanted the Biggest pizza we ordered the 20" instead. Oh mouths dropped when they came out with the pizza we had ordered!! It was HUGE and the taste was FABULOUS!!! Everyone was so nice and helpful and we ended up having to stuff ourselves with pizza since we didn't have a way to take leftovers!! When we left, we kept commented how cheap the total bill was... we basically ate for a little over $5 each!!! My suggestion for a lot of fun... would be to get a huge group together and go and order the 64" pizza.. it's 5'4" tall!!!!

“Everything's bigger in Texas!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

This was a place that we had seen on the food network and decided that we had to try it out. We (family of 4) decided to go ahead and get the 32' pizza......waaayyy too much pizza. But it was fantastic! I had wondered if they could make such a huge pizza tasty and man did they deliver. The crust was nice and thin, New York style, the sauce fantastic! All around great pizza. The only down side was that it was packed! But the workers were all very polite and we got our food fairly quickly.

“Pizza after the Missions”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Way off the beaten path. South of San Antonio but not too far if you are going to be on the South Side. Have the pizza rolls. They are amazing. Big Lou's was on the Food Network Man against food for their giant 48in pizza and I think they have one over 62" now. Recently expanded with a beer patio. Be advised they aren't very fast so order your pizza rolls beforehand and take them back to the hotel...if you can wait that whole time without eating them all.

“Bad customer service.”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

Expected a busy night (Sat. at 9pm)and a wait, but the cold pizza and bad customer service was too much. When seated we noticed a "service charge" on our bill. When we politely asked our server he stumbled in not knowing before informing us it was his third day (not a big deal, except we never got an answer). When our pizza arrived it was not hot. It was barely warm. The wings and drinks were great. Just the pizza was kind of warm. When our server came back by we informed him and he politely removed it to heat it up again. Shortly after, he returned letting us know it couldn't be heated up because we touched it and it was against health code (not a problem, but we still have a cold pizza). When we asked to speak to a manager, a female (Valerie stated she was a "kitchen manager") arrived at our table and informed us it was against code again. She was extremely rude, impolite, unprofessional, snappy with her actions and stated it was the servers fault for not bringing it out fast enough and he would be getting a write up. Really? Is this the solution? And do we as guest need to know this? She then picks up our pizza and says, "I'll just do it anyway"(very unhappy). We suggested they just remake another pizza (hot) so everyone is satisfied- no cold pizza, no health code broken. We asked for the top manager there, and she stated she was the manager, and no one else was there. After leaving our table, we can see the "kitchen manager" lecturing our server for nearly 5 minutes down the hall. After this point, we literally never had any contact with our server again. We were never upset with our server or blamed him in any way shape or form. Our table was made to look like a bunch of complaining rude guest (unsatisfied Yes, bickering and rude no). One of our table patrons went to the front and asked for a manager. The male "GM" was excellent in apologizing, solving the issue, and even stated she wasn't a manager and should have never came on to the floor. Sadly enough, this was the first visit for 3 guest, and the second for 2 guest (both times they stated it was bad service - the first time was a bad server experience). Hoping we can overlook this particular time, but as of right now not planning on returning anytime soon. :/
