We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights this summer and thought it was lovely! The lobby is beautiful, made to look like a street between two buildings and the hotel has a 1920's feel to it. The room was simple, clean and classy, and the view was of the lobby 'street' below. We stayed for breakfast both mornings and there was a small variety of foods including a make-your-own waffle iron (in the shape of Texas!) as well as a selection of fruits, cereals, yogurts and breakfast muffins. The pool area is quite small but very attractive set in a garden surrounding and was relaxing in spite of being near to the street. The location could not have been any better, with the Alamo right across the street and the Rivercentre Mall, Riverwalk and local bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The price was extremely reasonable for the standard and location of this hotel and I would not hesitate in staying here again :)

We booked our reservation 4 months ago, secured it with a cc. upon our check in, the service person called the manager, who explained to me, someone came in, demanded a room & was paying cash, so they gave him our room for 2 nights, of our 7 night stay. they had a room in their sister hotel for 2 nights, & than we needed to come back to the Crockett for the rest of our stay. I told him, I was not happy about this situation, & he told me this was the best they could do, they had no other options. That is until my husband came in, told him what they did was not right & that they didn't care about us, and the fact that we pre booked & secured a room. Suddenly a room was available. Room was nice, but bed was very uncomfortable, you had to take a quick shower as the tub would fill up & take about 10 minutes to drain. Elevator was smaller than some bathroom stalls I've been in, & there was a very unpleasant barn animal smell in the sitting area by the lobby. Some of the staff were very nice, others not so. No work out room, & the pool was about the size of blow up kiddy pool. I have stayed in San Antonio at a much less expensive hotels, with the same or more to offer, for less money. The only plus was the location. Never again!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your recent stay at the Crockett. We strive everyday to exceed our guests expectations of our historic, boutique hotel. We feel badly when we fall short with our efforts.

I apologize that the hotel was sold out for the day of your arrival. The front desk tried to accommodate for this situation by providing a room at our sister property for these sold out days. When an existing guest extends their stay longer than originally planned, we must continue to accommodate them and this can sometimes cause the hotel to be oversold.

In the end, we understand that being sold out and having to provide other accommodations than what was expected will lead to a dissatisfied customer. We work hard to prevent such situations and will share this experience with our staff to prevent it from occurring in the future.

Thank you again for your constructive feedback. We hope you may reconsider and stay with us again in the future. We will work very hard to regain your trust and confidence in the Crockett Hotel.

While traveling to San Antonio for a conference, I stayed at the historic Crockett Hotel in downtown San Antonio. Located 2 blocks from the Riverwalk and adjacent to Alamo Plaza, the Crockett has good location. The building is listed on the historic registry, and has been well maintained, but the hotel is a no-frills, middle of the road property when compared to other nearby hotels, including the adjacent sister-property Menger Hotel. The room was comfortable, but somewhat spartan and a little dated. The view was nice, however; plantation blinds opened over Alamo plaza. There is a continental breakfast, a lobby bar that opens at 4 pm, and a swimming pool. There is also free wifi, but no fitness center; although guests may use the fitness center at the Menger hotel across the street. Be prepared to pay $20 (tax included) a day for parking whether self or valet, which is fairly standard anywhere in downtown San Antonio. Overall it was a decent enough stay, but not enough to bring me back. If La Mansion has rooms, I'm booking there instead.

When we pulled up to the Crockett Hotel, we were a little worried. The sign over the hotel could certainly use replacing, and the exterior looks almost shabby. However, as soon as we walked into the lobby, we remembered the old, "Don't judge a book by its cover!" This is a beautiful hotel (inside)! VERY clean, freshly painted, very comfortable room (although the bathroom was tiny and the room small, forgivable in an historic hotel). Also, the Crockett is literally right next to the Alamo and only a block or so from the River Walk. We would certainly stay there again!

We had time during our stay in America to spend a couple of days in San Antonio and made the lucky choice to stay in the Crockett. The hotel is perfectly located for all the main attractions of this lovely old city esp the Alamo (next door) and the riverside walk five minutes away. The hotel itself is a nicely renovated period hotel which has an American feel which we, as English visitors do appreciate. The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay even to giving instructions on waffle making in the breakfast room. The breakfasts, which were the only meals we ate in the hotel were very good with plenty of choice, as long as you do not require meat. The room we had was fine with a good bathroom and comfortable bed, Everything was clean and satisfactory. San Antonio was certainly worth the 300 mile drive down from Dallas, we particularly liked the Mission trail. We would look no farther than this hotel for future visits.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Alamo

We just spent 4 days at the Crockett Hotel in San Antonio. It could not have been a better location...walking distance to nearly everything. Across the street from the Alamo, down the block from the Visitors Center, across the sidewalk to the RiverWalk...and breakfast is included and they have a very nice pool. And, the price was excellent. The Crockett is the second oldest hotel in SA - but it has been well maintained and up-dated. The rooms are small, but comfortable - and when you are in SA you want to be out enjoying the area, not sitting in your room.

Wow, the best thing about hotel, unexpectedly was proximity to river walk , river center, alamo and the central down town area. Just 2 minutes walk! It was so convenient. The hotel per se was okay, and decent value for money for such a central location. The breakfast, lodging , room quality etc were all decent and is recommended for stay!
