Romantic getaway for my wife couldn't have been more lovely! Like much of San Antonio, the hotel exhibits a loving commitment to preserving it's original design elements from a romantic & sophistocated era that celebrated such aesthetics. As a former student of interior architecture and historic preservation, my wife couldn't have been more at home. Having relocated from downtown Chicago to suburban Dallas 3 years ago, we've greatly missed the pleaseures of a walking city. Turns out, there are so many options for dining, shopping, and entertainment walking distance from the hotel that there's no reason to pull the car out. The Crockett is across the street from both the Alamo and the non-stop action of San Antonio's Riverwalk. In fact, the hotel is accessible to both a beautiful street level path to the Riverwalk as well as a shopping center route across the street in case of incliment weather. Having heard that San Antonio pulls out all the stops to decorate for the holidays, we're definitely looking forward to our next stay at the Crockett in December.

The rooms have paper thin walls you hear the hall noise and the street noise at the same time. The pillows are at least 10 years old and are the worst quality I've ever seen. I asked the front desk for different pillows - The first time they said they didn't have any and the second time someone brought me up one that had half the stuffing out.

If you wanted to come to San Antonio and this was the only place left, I'd just stay home and skip the trip entirely. I can see a Marriot out my window if you really wanted this downtown location. If you're used to staying at Motel 6, I guess you'll only be moderately dissapointed, but this is a far cry from a satisfactory business hotel and I would NEVER recommed it to any freind or family.

Room Tip: Don't stay here at all.

For this year's company retreat, we choose San Antonio (last year we went to Wimberly Tx). After calling several hotels in San Antonio to get a group rate (we needed 10 rooms), The Crockett Hotel offered us the best rate. The sales manager Shirley was awesome in coordinating our stay...rooms were clean, valet attendants were friendly, complimentary breakfast food was good. And of course we all loved the accessibility to the Riverwalk.
We would definitely stay there again!!

Room Tip: VIP room is roomy

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights this summer and thought it was lovely! The lobby is beautiful, made to look like a street between two buildings and the hotel has a 1920's feel to it. The room was simple, clean and classy, and the view was of the lobby 'street' below. We stayed for breakfast both mornings and there was a small variety of foods including a make-your-own waffle iron (in the shape of Texas!) as well as a selection of fruits, cereals, yogurts and breakfast muffins. The pool area is quite small but very attractive set in a garden surrounding and was relaxing in spite of being near to the street. The location could not have been any better, with the Alamo right across the street and the Rivercentre Mall, Riverwalk and local bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The price was extremely reasonable for the standard and location of this hotel and I would not hesitate in staying here again :)

We booked our reservation 4 months ago, secured it with a cc. upon our check in, the service person called the manager, who explained to me, someone came in, demanded a room & was paying cash, so they gave him our room for 2 nights, of our 7 night stay. they had a room in their sister hotel for 2 nights, & than we needed to come back to the Crockett for the rest of our stay. I told him, I was not happy about this situation, & he told me this was the best they could do, they had no other options. That is until my husband came in, told him what they did was not right & that they didn't care about us, and the fact that we pre booked & secured a room. Suddenly a room was available. Room was nice, but bed was very uncomfortable, you had to take a quick shower as the tub would fill up & take about 10 minutes to drain. Elevator was smaller than some bathroom stalls I've been in, & there was a very unpleasant barn animal smell in the sitting area by the lobby. Some of the staff were very nice, others not so. No work out room, & the pool was about the size of blow up kiddy pool. I have stayed in San Antonio at a much less expensive hotels, with the same or more to offer, for less money. The only plus was the location. Never again!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your recent stay at the Crockett. We strive everyday to exceed our guests expectations of our historic, boutique hotel. We feel badly when we fall short with our efforts.

I apologize that the hotel was sold out for the day of your arrival. The front desk tried to accommodate for this situation by providing a room at our sister property for these sold out days. When an existing guest extends their stay longer than originally planned, we must continue to accommodate them and this can sometimes cause the hotel to be oversold.

In the end, we understand that being sold out and having to provide other accommodations than what was expected will lead to a dissatisfied customer. We work hard to prevent such situations and will share this experience with our staff to prevent it from occurring in the future.

Thank you again for your constructive feedback. We hope you may reconsider and stay with us again in the future. We will work very hard to regain your trust and confidence in the Crockett Hotel.

While traveling to San Antonio for a conference, I stayed at the historic Crockett Hotel in downtown San Antonio. Located 2 blocks from the Riverwalk and adjacent to Alamo Plaza, the Crockett has good location. The building is listed on the historic registry, and has been well maintained, but the hotel is a no-frills, middle of the road property when compared to other nearby hotels, including the adjacent sister-property Menger Hotel. The room was comfortable, but somewhat spartan and a little dated. The view was nice, however; plantation blinds opened over Alamo plaza. There is a continental breakfast, a lobby bar that opens at 4 pm, and a swimming pool. There is also free wifi, but no fitness center; although guests may use the fitness center at the Menger hotel across the street. Be prepared to pay $20 (tax included) a day for parking whether self or valet, which is fairly standard anywhere in downtown San Antonio. Overall it was a decent enough stay, but not enough to bring me back. If La Mansion has rooms, I'm booking there instead.

When we pulled up to the Crockett Hotel, we were a little worried. The sign over the hotel could certainly use replacing, and the exterior looks almost shabby. However, as soon as we walked into the lobby, we remembered the old, "Don't judge a book by its cover!" This is a beautiful hotel (inside)! VERY clean, freshly painted, very comfortable room (although the bathroom was tiny and the room small, forgivable in an historic hotel). Also, the Crockett is literally right next to the Alamo and only a block or so from the River Walk. We would certainly stay there again!
