“A great hotel for an Event!”
Reviewed 3 November 2011

We recently held a meeting of 59 attendees at the Crockett. The hotel made every effort to ensure that the guests' accommodations and the meeting room were perfect. Communications with the hotel staff were excellent. Those attending the meeting were very pleased with their breakfasts and their rooms and commented that the hotel was perfect for our event, including the location.

Great location (one block) from Alamo and Riverwalk. Great room (502), average breakfast, very friendly staff, especially Ed Alcantar, night manager.

Room Tip: Request king size room or suite

Stayed in the Crockett hotel for two nights recently. Both my husband and myself and my son who travelled with us, found it to be very clean and comfortable. The check in was fast and efficient, and the receptionist was very pleasant. Our room was facing onto the atrium lobby which made it a bit dark, compared to our son's room which faced onto the road. The A/C was pretty noisy, but due to the heat, it was necessary to have it on, so light sleepers, bring your ear plugs!
The breakfast, is very basic, but being complimentary, one does not expect too much, but could be improved on a little.

As already mentioned, the location is just superb, being across the road from the Alamo, and within walking distance of the River Walk with its countless restaurants, so one is spoiled for choice. This is a very lively area, especially at night, and it is so enjoyable to sit outside and enjoy a meal while watching the cruise boats going by.

Almost behind the hotel, can be found the River Centre shopping Mall for those who want to do some serious shopping. Within walking distance can be found the little gem La Villita, with its wonderful craft and art shops, where one can get that special something.

A visit to the Hemisfair park is a must with its beautiful water fountains, and its Tower of the Americas, standing 622 feet high, where especially at night, one can admire wonderful views of the city all lit up.

A twenty minute walk from the hotel, down Houston Street, the Market Square can be found with its beautiful Mexican crafts in over fifty shops. There are several restaurants in this area also, where a meal or a welcome cup of coffee can be enjoyed during a break from shopping.

Not far from this area, can be found The Museo Alameda, the largest Latino museum in the country, and a little further on, the beautiful San Fernando Cathedral, which houses the remains of some of those who fell at the Alamo, including Davy Crockett.

Our stay at the Crockett was very enjoyable, and we would definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Brighter rooms to the front of the Building over looking the Alamo!

The Crockett is a fine, historic hotel. It really is, as advertised, right across the street from the Alamo, and a sort walk to the River Walk. The staff are pleasant and responsive, the rooms are fine, and the price is good. There are, however, two major problems with the breakfast: the food and the television. There must be people who enjoy breakfast with TV commercials blaring at 90 decibels, but we prefer a quiet cup of coffee. (Note to management: At least keep the volume at a reasonable level.) The powdered eggs and grocery store bagels could also use an upgrade.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Crockett Hotel We appreciate the feedback very much and share it with our staff so that we can constantly work to improve the experiences that our guests have while stay at our hotel.

We apologize for the extra loud television in the breakfast area. We allow the guests to select what to watch and it appears that someone also adjusted the volume to an uncomfortable level. We will monitor the television settings with our breakfast servers and maintain them are a more appropriate level for those guests interested in television during breakfast.

With regards to our complimentary breakfast options, we are working to broaden and diversify our menu. We do not use powdered eggs for our scrambled eggs. We also have added a rotation of diced ham with the eggs, sausage with the eggs and link sausage from time to time. We are also working with our suppliers to vary our variety of bagels and spreads available. We are eager to provide popular items for our guests, while still maintaining our ability to provide the breakfast for free to all of our guests.

Again, thank you for your feedback. We look forward to your future visits to San Antonio.

I stayed at the hotel for a few days and it's a really nice hotel.
Nice location - nice staff and clean rooms.

Easy to park your car on the big parking lot - I can only recommend it.

The Crockett Staff was welcoming, friendly, and mad each and every member of our reunion feel comfortable and welcome. The closeness of the hotel to sights, restraunts, and entertaiment was wonderful. Room rates were very acceptable. The Hotel hosted our 20th reunion for a crew and families from the USS Centaurus a WW II Coast Gaurd AKA. Everyone complimented us on our choice of the Crockett. Thanks to the entire staff of the Crockett for making our visit to San Antonio special.

Room Tip: All rooms were good, but the view of the Alamo and downtown was exceptional.

Location, ambience, character, WiFi, breakfast, did I mention location?
We met friends from Houston and stayed here the w/e of 9/24-9/25/2011. Both my wife and I and our friends would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it. We had a room on the 6th floor facing the lobby and they were in a 7th floor suite. You are literally across the street from the Alamo and only a block from the Riverwalk in a historical district in the heart of the city. Parking at $20 per day is a good deal. Free breakfast and internet were very nice. The hotel was clean, nice decor, friendly staff, and there is so much to experience within walking distance that we enjoyed it very much.

Room Tip: Ask for Alamo view
