“High quality Crockett experience proven to be consistent”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

I returned to the Crockett Hotel again in December 2012 and was thrilled to have a comfortable and relaxing experience that was every bit as enjoyable as my first stay. For this trip in particular, it was at the forefront of my attention that the property is located in the most perfect spot imaginable. Across the street from an indoor entrance to the Riverwalk (via Rivercenter Mall) without opening up directly to is ideal, especially for an extremely high traffic week such as the one leading up to the Alamo Bowl as was the case when we were visiting. We also took advantage of the comp breakfast buffet which was always well stocked and delicious. We adored the Texas shaped waffles!

This Hotel is in a great location, especially for first time visitors. The complementary breakfast was good. Steps away from the Riverwalk and across the street from The Alamo. Overall good price for a good, clean nice room with a good location.

This is a great old hotel with lots of history. The hotel has been updated as much as possible but the rooms are still fairly small if thats a concern which it wasn't for us. The hotel is very clan and the staff is friendly. The only minus was that we learned when we arrived that parking is $20 per day. This would have been nice to know ahead of time. I would gladly go back to the Crockett because its located close to Alamo park, the Alamo and river walk. Its also just across the street from the river mall.

The Crockett hotel was exactly what I was expecting. An average room for an average price. The room was clean, well made up and quite spacious for having two doubles. You didn't have to do the 'side shuffle' to get between the bed and the TV/dresser. The bathroom was actually huge. Shower decent with plenty of towels and the usual complementary soaps. The complementary breakfast was the usual fare. Pastries, bagels, scrambled eggs. and waffle makers. The food was good and sure makes it nice to get going in the morning without an extra stop. OK a couple of negatives. Firstly the a/c seemed unusually loud when it starts up. Maybe it was just my room? Also as usual, avoid the room across from the ice machine. It was running all night. So the two basic negs are pretty standard for all hotels. The location is great if you have anything to do in the DT San Antonio area. Walking distance to most and the area has what looks to be an excellent colour coded streetcar system. We were attending a convention at the convention center and it was close to that. The River Walk was great. Saturday night was busy full of action and lots of fun. I recommend "The County Line" in the river walk for real good BBQ dinner. Overall worth the price for a good, clean nice room with a good location.

Stayed a couple nights here while on a getaway trip with my wife.
The hotel is first rate......nicely updated, good size rooms, helpful staff, very clean building and in great shape for a hotel as old as it is. Remember, this is an older hotel....if you want big, fancy and crowded, stay down the street at a chain.
Location can't be beat, easy freeway access, great valet staff. You can park your car and leave it once you arrive. Just about everything in downtown SA is accessible from here.
Breakfast included in our rate was the usual eggs, fruit, waffles pastries and beverages.
Ernie's bar was a great place to hang out and relax, with some good happy hour drink prices.
Will definitely stay again on the next trip.

Room Tip: Stay near the ends of the hallways....ice and soda machines are at the middle bend.

We got this hotel on a good deal during black Friday and after reading reviews thought it seemed like a great deal. I can't argue that it was a decent hotel for the price, but for vacation purposes I would have liked to stay somewhere just a bit nicer. The hotel was a 7/10 on cleanliness and 6/10 on hotel staff friendliness.
The breakfast is not something you would want to eat for more than a day or two in a row, but would do if you are an early riser.
The hotel is very close to the Alamo, I could see parts of it from the window and it was within comfortable walking distance to everything we wanted to see. All in all, for the price it was an ok hotel - but again, I would spend the extra $ and stay somewhere just a bit nicer.

When I made the reservation for this hotel through travelocity I mistakenly booked a room exactly one week earlier than intended for our hotels in Austin and San Antonio. Upon checking into our hotel in Austin the day before we were due to check in at the Crockett I realized my mistake and called travelocity. Travelocity and the hotel in Austin were great. While this was the first time I made this mistake, they said this sort of thing happens a lot and is rectified by faxing a copy of the original reservation to the hotel. While I had travelocity on the phone I asked them to check in with the Crockett to see if they would be willing to accept our original reservation too. The Crockett staff declined. I figured that a call from the customer might change their minds if for no other reason than to avoid negative reviews such as this one. I spoke to a very polite rep and manager but was again informed that they would not honor my original reservation. I asked if this was because the hotel was booked up (on a Monday night in mid-December) and was told that the hotel was not full but it is hotel policy not to honor missed reservations that are a week old. So, I can't speak to the hotel's facilities or location and the folks I dealt with were perfectly polite but I think their policy on missed reservations is not in line with others in the region and poor treatment of paying customers.
