“Close to the Alamo and the Riverwalk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

We were looking for a place in downtown that was within walking distance of the sights, mainly the Alamo and reasonable parking prices. We found this historic hotel and it met our needs. Remember this is a 100 year old building, but it really did not seem like a 100 year old building. We stayed on a Thursday night in a 6th floor outside room. The room was comfortable and the shutters let in a lot of light. It is a tad small compared to modern hotel rooms, but it worked fine for me, my husband and our 9 year old son. The bathroom was very clean as was the room. There is not fridge or microwave, but there is a ironing board and wifi. We did not have any noise issues during our stay. The breakfast was very good, we loved the Texas shaped waffles; my son ate 2 of those. It is extremely convenient to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. The parking is 20 per night. We only stayed on night, checked in on Thursday and out on Friday and were able to leave our car in the lot most of the day after we checked out. The price on parking is a bargain relative to other hotels in the area. The parking lot is also convenient to the hotel so you can get stuff out that you left in the car. The only issue was with the shower and it was just a water pressure issue not a big deal, once again, 100 year old building.

Eexcellent customer service.we arrived Friday night .the room 508 was very clean, spacious and newly painted But the roadworks outside right by the Alamo was entirely too noisy.we were moved to 526 another great room.slept great, enjoyed a decent breakfast and an awesome day seeing the sights of San Antonio.when we returned to the room no air.....hubby.instead of having US move again they graciously gave US the adjoining room so we could sleep in there.awesome customer service.this is a great hotel right by the Alamo, close to all downtown sights.recommend.

Skip the name brands and stay in a historic gem! Lovely hotel with great service. The breakfast is tasty and well staffed. My room was very nice with lots of windows. It's fairly quiet for a downtown property but if street noise brothers you, get an interior room overlooking the atrium.
The best part is the location. Walking distance to convention center and river walk! If I'm ever back in the area, this is where I'll stay!

The room was comfortable but full of light and noise, throughout the night, from the lobby below. Also, whatever price is given, be sure to budget an additional $22 a night for parking. All the staff were courteous. We opted for the breakfast sandwich at Subway just down the street, instead of the .provided breakfast. We stayed at an excellent bed and breakfast the night before and probably would have been more satisfied if we had stayed two nights.

Room Tip: If you get a room you may want to ask for an outward facing one.

I really liked this hotel. Firstly, it has a great location especially if you're traveling alone. Right next to the Alamo, just down the street from the Riverwalk, and it also seems quite safe to walk around on your own at night nearby. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and well maintained. Very comfortable bed. The free daily breakfast was very decent. All the staff I encountered were very accommodating and they even let me check in a few hours early because I had just arrived from a 20 hour train ride and desperately wanted a shower! Very kind of them. I spent one night at Ernie's Bar downstairs because it was very rainy and had a great night. Being solo I sat at the bar, met all kinds of interesting ppl and the lady behind the bar (I'm horrible with names) was hilarious and made her own killer version of a Mexican margarita. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms we rented were comfortable, clean, and had a beautiful view towards the Alamo. The staff was very accommodating. We loved the easy access to the River Walk and the easy parking right next door (although it was 20 Dollars a day) and spent 3 lovely days exploring the city. Breakfast was ok - nothing too spectacular but basic stuff. I would definitely stay there again on a return trip to San Antonio.

Room Tip: the view on the Alamo was great

I picked this location on a business trip. It fit perfectly in my budget of about $100 a day give or take a few dollars. It was within walking distance of everything! Food. The riverwalk. The convention center where the conference was. The outside is very "vintage", but don't let that sway you. The breakfast was good. The service was good and I have no complaints about my room. I felt very safe.
