Overall my husband and I were happy with this hotel. We liked that it was historic, the exterior, the lobby and the Landmark dining room were all loaded with period details. The room was very boring, as most hotel rooms are. We had an interior room, so we looked out over the lobby and straight across into other guest rooms. So we pretty much kept the blinds closed the whole time. Everything was clean and well-kept, which was really nice. And the hotel is right behind the Alamo, and it is a short walk to the River walk, which is great! They serve a nice breakfast every morning w/ delicious, Texas-shaped waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, make-your-own breakfast burritos, etc. They have a computer/printer available for guests, and a small pool. There was one thing that I hated - the air conditioner. Loudest thing on the planet. It runs every 15 minutes or so and it kept me up almost every night. When it turns on, it sounds as if you're suddenly in a wind tunnel, or a hurricane or something. I know it's an old hotel, but it would be really beneficial to upgrade that dinosaur of an air conditioner. That's the only thing that would keep me from returning - I like to be able to sleep at night, and w/ that a/c, it's not happening. Other than that, everything was fine.
