We recently held our family reunion at the Crockett Hotel. This property has a fascinating history and many claim that it is haunted. The rooms while small - were nicely furnished. The meeting room is where we spent most of our time - and that was a spacious area. The property is between the Alamo and the River Center Mall - so - lots of stuff to do with just a short walk. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint - parking is at a premium downtown. So - for $23 bucks a night - the parking was pretty expensive - but then - we found a $4 parking lot within walking distance on 4th and Bonham. That was quite the savings. And just a short walk. This hotel does have a small pool and outdoor lounge area, all very tropical and relaxing.

Room Tip: If you get a room overlooking the Alamo - you can see the lighted carriages passing by at night.

Reasonably good place to stay in San Antonio. . The exterior of the hotel and the central courtyard reception area ( has a central skylight) are welcoming. The building is a national landmark. We paid $20 for valet parking, the same cost even if we were to park on our own within the Hotel perimeter. Free Wi-Fi available. Took a long time to check in with only two people at the reception desk However friendly staff. The rooms were clean, though obviously had their era mark. The pool is small, detached and across the hotel. We did not use it.
Breakfast was okay and was as in many other chain restaurants…. with juice, fruits, waffles, cereals, eggs and sausage. My daughter liked the Texas shaped waffle that she was able to make. The hotel has easy access to the river walk through the back door and across the mall. The Alamo is in close proximity to the hotel.

This is a very reasonably priced hotel and a good deal, considering the location directly behind the Alamo and a short walking distance from the River walk. It is also across the street from the Menger Bar, where Teddy Roosevelt memorabilia is displayed. While the rooms are not opulent, they are clean and well appointed. A Buffet-type breakfast is provided, but there is no restaurant - though most San Antonio visitors will not want to eat in a hotel anyway. Wifi easily available. The elevators are small but in working order, and consistent with the historic nature of the hotel. The atrium provides an open, warm, homey feel. The staff did a great job making our recent family stay there such a success! They did everything and more to make it a memorable experience. Even though the parking fees seemed high, it is comparable to other downtown parking rates and the Valet staff "busted their butts" in the heat to get folks in and out as fast as possible in what sometimes must‘ve seemed intolerable heat and short notice times. I offer them a well-deserved special thanks, and Kudos to them.

As we walked into the room it smelled musty. The carpet was worn. We were bitten by bed bugs. In the restroom there was a blood stain on the ceiling. There was paint on all the fixtures. The ice machine was broken. The pool was was small, like a backyard pool. The staff was not very friendly. The breakfast was good and there were a variety of items. The lady in charge of the breakfast was nice and brought us what ever we asked for. The Happy Hour in the bar was good and the bartender was nice and helpful.

Room Tip: choose another hotel

Thank you for your review of your recent stay. We appreciate your positive comments on our complimentary daily breakfast and the experience in Ernie's Bar.

We work to constantly improve our guest room product. This year we have replaced all the ob the bed linens to a new design, and are working to replace mattress/box springs, carpet and paint. The process of replacing carpet in the hotel this year is being done a few rooms at a time. These efforts will continue through 2014 and will bring a new fresh feel to the hotel.

We have a contract with pest control professionals who are in the hotel weekly. We will pass along your report for their immediate attention. Our hotel is often praised for the quality and cleaniness provided by our housekeeping staff. We will share your comments with for their attention as well.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. The gentleman at the front desk was always friendly and willing to help. The valet staff went above and beyond. Upon arrival they helped us unload and take everything to our room. In our rush to unload we forgot to put away our gps and radar. The valet put it away for us and immediately called our room. The rooms were small, but very clean. Housekeeping was very prompt and accommodating.
