I spent five nights at the Drury Plaza as part of a Road Scholar program and loved everything about it. The location was convenient, my room was comfortable and spotless, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the happy hour every afternoon was generous and fun. I recommend it highly. (Note: It's easy to get this hotel confused with the Drury Inn, almost next door. Though I'm sure it's fine also, I wanted to mention that so that people will be alert to the fact that they are different hotels with similar names.)

We found this place to be just a delightful place to stay. There is definitely something special about the atmosphere, and I think a lot of it has to do with the staff, who were ALL extremely friendly and helpful from the manager Lisa, to the front desk (called within a few minutes upon entering our room to make sure everything was OK), to the smiling chef/dining area attendant Raymond (who also greets you on the TV on Drury's home station), to the cleaning/maintenance staff.

This is a historic older building with a huge open lobby, that has been beautifully renovated, beautiful wood, chandeliers, tile floor, etc. All very classy. Parking is accessible from the second floor.

We enjoyed both the hot breakfasts and the evening kickback (all complimentary) and noticed at both that the atmosphere was more like a social event/party than the usual eat-and-get-outta-there feel, guests were really appreciating the love! There was plenty of variety at breakfast, including waffles, cold & hot cereals, potatoes, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurts, biscuits & gravy, muffins, you name it, along with juices & coffee. Evenings meant drinks (limit of 3, if alcohol) and enough choices to make a meal if you so desired: baked potatoes, chips & salsa, veggies & dip, salad, hot dogs, chicken tenders, soups - it was really quite amazing.

Our room was lovely too, with all-white bedding, a balcony, with chairs and table, overlooking Riverwalk, a lounge chair, large night stands and armoire, and sink area apart from the shower/toilet area. In the room were also a microwave and small refrigerator and large flat screen TV. We stayed on the 7th floor, which is where the fitness center (also complimentary) and pool/hot tub area is located.

We hope we have an opportunity to visit here again, and highly recommend this hotel!

My sons and I stayed at the Drury Plaza Riverwalk in late November 2013. Inspite of the weather, 30s and 40s and little sun, we found our hotel a real find. The location was great, service was great and very attentive in all areas from front desk to valets. The hotel was a 1929 Alamo Bank Building and it captures the spirit of the Art Deco 1920s. If we are ever in San Antonio again, we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We stayed the the 2nd tower. They are newer rooms with a view of the Riverwalk.

We stayed at the Drury Plaza for 3 nights to do a little sightseeing while in Texas for a Wedding. The atmosphere was upscale. The two story lobby had tons of history since it was at one time the Alamo National Bank building. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Their "kickback" in the evenings was a wonderful benefit at the time of day one would naturally return to the hotel to freshen up from the afternoon of sightseeing before setting out for evening entertainment. We were automatically upgraded to an available suite. The bedroom was dark and quiet. The living room overlooked the Riverwalk. It was too cold to swim in the rooftop pool but what a nice amenity. If traveling to the area again, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: We were on the 20th floor and had a good view of the Riverwalk and city skyline. Igt was also quiet...

This place was great. Right on the river, near restaurants, near bars, near everything! We turned the happy hour into dinner one night! I was there for a work conference and hubby tagged along and explored during the day without a car or using transportation.
