The hotel was convenient, comfortable and centrally located. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was nice to have both an indoor and outdoor pool, as it allowed us to go swimming in the evening. The breakfast and 'dinner' was also a nice touch, especially when traveling with children.

Our family decided to ring in 2014 here. This is a great hotel(renovated bank from the 30's I think) great place on the river walk(away from the noise but close enough if you want some excitement). The staff was very attentive and the hotel offers a great spread in the evenings and superb breakfast. Makes having to pay for parking worth it with all the extras they give you. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathroom had dispensers for the shampoo, conditioner and soap....for females with long hair you will love not having to worry about running out:)

My wife and I chose this hotel for a number of reasons, all of which were born out:

1. Close to the Riverwalk
2. Great reviews on TripAdvisor
3. Breakfast and light dinner included in price

The building itself is intriguing. The lobby is huge-vertically–with all the trappings and ornamentation of a bank lobby, which is what it once was. We chose to spend $10 more per day for the 2-Room suite with king bed. Worth every penny. There are three rooms–spacious bedroom, cozy sitting area (in the middle), and bathroom. Well appointed with comfortable chair and couch, small fridge, and microwave.

The breakfasts were the same each day but consistently good. The dining area is on the second floor, on a huge extended balcony space that looks over the lobby below in the center.

Then there is the "Kickstarter," a well attended light dinner buffet which includes up to three alcoholic drinks per person. The food was basic but, if you have dined heartily in San Antonio restaurants, it is all you probably want. The only "problem" is that it's easy to eat there and not savor the wide range of S.A. restaurants within just a few blocks.

Staff, by and large, was as friendly as you would expect from Marriott. Even a maintenance guy struck up a conversation with me in the elevator about how I am enjoying my stay.

Wi Fi was strong and reliable.

Only two quirks (which caused me to give a VG, vs. Excellent, rating):

1. The channel numbers in the TV in the sitting area were different from those for the bedroom TV. And neither of these corresponded to the laminated channel card in the room.
2. The hot water in afternoon and evening took 3-5 minutes to arrive. It took faith to wait for it.

This was my first stay at a Drury property. Bottom line, I will definitely return to this Drury if my travels bring me back to ol' San Antone.

The Drury's location in the charming Alamo Nat'l Bank Bldg along the river walk was ideal. We went for nice walks (in opposite directions) to Alamo and to Mi Tierra in el mercado Hot breakfast and Happy Hour drinks and snacks were included in room charge. We stayed in corner suite that had big windows and very comfortable bed. Will stay again.

If you want good value for your money and are looking to stay in downtown San Antonio on vacation, I don't think you can go wrong by choosing this hotel.

My wife and I stayed here in late March with a room on the 17th floor. Beautiful view of the city out our window. You'll need to pull in to the garage labeled for Drury Plaza registration on Commmerce St., where a valet will greet you. Check-in was very speedy and I received my car upon check-out within 10 minutes (tipped the valet $5). Valet parking is mandatory at $21/day, but with this included in the total cost of the hotel I still feel you get great value for your money. FWIW, I looked at garages nearby and overnight parking was running around $15.

The room was certainly on the small side compared to your average hotel room. King bed was plenty comfortable. Bathroom was large with a jacuzzi tub and everything was very clean. Flat-screen TV (I think 40").

Staff was extremely friendly throughout the hotel. I can't stress that enough. From the valet, to the housekeeping, the front desk, and the employees working the food area, all made sure you were well-informed.

The food is a definite PLUS at this hotel. Breakfast was high quality for a free hotel breakfast. Fresh pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc... Then you also have the free 5:30 kickback that includes 3 free alcoholic beverages. Always a large crowd for this, but they do a good job of serving everybody in a reasonable amount of time. Snacks like hot dogs, chicken, baked potatos, popcorn, and nachos are also included for free. Free fountain drinks are available from 3-10pm every day. You don't have to make a dinner out of this, but you can if you choose depending on what you have planned for that evening. We had a late lunch out and were pretty full one day, so the snack is all we needed.

Lastly, the location is exactly what you'll be looking for if interested in the Riverwalk. Exit through the basement and you are already on the riverwalk. About a 5-10 minute walk to get to the main section that includes the majority of the restaurants. About a 15 minute walk to the Rivercenter Mall and the Alamo. We also went to a show at the Majestic Theatre (wife loved it) which was about a 10 minute walk. Didn't need a car for most activities. If you are going to a Spurs game (which we did take a cab to), Six Flags, Sea World, or Mission Park, you'll need to take a vehicle.
