Stayed here while attending a conference on the Riverwalk. I wish I had known about this place when I had little ones. Lots of "freebies" included in the affordable price. Excellent warm breakfast. Evening food and drinks are wonderful, too, eliminating the need to spend big bucks on Riverwalk restaurants. Since this was not my first time visiting the Riverwalk, not having to go out and deal with the crowds was appreciated. It is not typical buffet food. Loved the mac and cheese and the quesadillas. Many foods that kids would eat, and many foods for adults, too. Excellent selection of mixed drinks. Food and drink lines moved quickly. Empties were replaced quickly. Tables cleared promptly. The hotel room was laid out a little weird. Decent sized bathroom immediately on right upon entering the room. Mini kitchen just past bathroom. Room turns right, where a sofa and chair are against a wall. Hang another right for the king-size bed and television stand. This means that if you would like to sit on the sofa and watch T.V., the television needs to be turned completely to the side, which it can't be because of size and wire restraints. The bed is a bit wobbly, lacking support. Housekeeping is the reason for a very good instead of an excellent rating. There were some items in the room that were covered in dust. When my husband comments about something on the desk being really, really dirty, it definitely is dirty! I dropped something on the bathroom floor shortly after checking in, and after I picked it up, I wiped a small area of the floor with a tissue. It was dirty. I then wet a face cloth and wiped a few areas of the bathroom floor. They were all dirty. I saved the face cloth and reported it to the front desk. I didn't see any changes in our room the following days. The bathroom floor remained dirty. I happened to walk into the room one day as the housekeeper was just finishing, and I saw that she used one of those sticky roller pads to clean the floor, which explains the dirt. It picks up things on the floor, but it does nothing for the dirt. One last thing, which is a word of caution: if you find yourself staying here or anywhere on the Riverwalk during the basketball playoffs, and the Spurs win a series, no matter how trivial, the people of San Antonio take to their cars, beeping horns and shouting, while riding back and forth from downtown to the Riverwalk. They do this for two hours. The night they won their division playoff, the horns started at 11:20 p.m. and went on until 1:20 a.m. The nonstop noise kept me awake, and definitely affected my overall opinion of the city. I absolutely, positively will never, ever return during the playoffs.
