“Must stay!”

The hotel staff are very nice. When my husband and I arrived at the hotel we thought we had reserved a bigger room like the one we had stayed at previously we let the front desk know and she was very nice about it she even let us upgrade to a bigger room at no extra charge! Not to mention the hotel is right on the riverwalk. You get complimentary breakfast and they have a 5:30 kickback with complimentary drinks. Overall this hotel is a 5 star I recommend you to stay here you're going to love it!

From check-in to check-out, this hotel is the BEST! Front Desk manager, Martha, was spot on every time that I had an experience with her. She smiled and made eye contact with every one who came to the desk, she was sharp and efficient. Anything requested was fulfilled within seconds, a true asset to Drury Inn & Suites. Raymond from the commercial advertising of this location ACTUALLY works here. He is as friendly in person as he is on the advertising. This was a PLUS and major KUDOS to Drury because it shows that they believe in their employees whereas some hotels pay actors to "say" good things about them. We were dropped off at the hotel for a four day stay and due to the being hotel located right on the RiverWalk and in close proximity to a lot of local attractions, we didn't need a car to get around. You won't go hungry either: Full Breakfast (scrambled eggs, diced ham, shredded cheese, biscuits, white gravy, sausage patties, breakfast potatoes, fresh waffles, bagels, cream cheese, toast, jelly, asst. cereal, milk, orange juice, apples juice, coffee, doughnuts, apples, bananas.) Afternoon snack of popcorn and cold sodas, Nightly rotating full dinner menu: For Example:Saturdays (unlimited hot dogs, chili, mac n cheese, green salad, nachos, baked potato, and unlimited cold soda) - Sundays (unlimited fried chicken tenderloins, mac n cheese, nachos, minestrone soup, green salad, baked potato, and unlimited cold soda) Complimentary mixed drink, cocktails, wine, and beer during rotating dinner menu. You can't go to another hotel in this vicinity and receive any better hospitality, service, value or price.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the River Walk.

Great service from everyone at this hotel. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was better than many downtown places I've stayed. Nice view from the pool on the 23rd floor. Walking distance to Market Square. Only neg. they serve Pepsi, I prefer Coke.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Drury Plaza. It is located at the quiet end of the Riverwalk with an easy walk to the Alamo and the Rivercity Mall. It is in an old bank building with lots of historical charm. The staff members were very nice and eager to help, although not all were knowledgeable about their city. A concierge would be an added bonus here.
The hotel serves a fairly substantial breakfast that has standard buffet affair. They have popcorn available in the afternoon and a happy hour with free alcoholic drinks and hearty appetizers. All food is served on the second floor overlooking the main lobby. Because of its location, the smell of pancakes, fried potatoes, and popcorn permeates the building most of the day. We were there on a sold out weekend and were always able to find a table and food was plentiful. Unfortunately, a significant number of the guests at this hotel did not understand that "free" doesn't mean "pig out". We were disgusted by the amount of wasted food piled on tables. This is not a comment against the hotel, rather the manners of its patrons.
We were disappointed in the overall housekeeping of the hotel. The common areas and hallways had sticky floors (due to the spilling of food), fingerprinted glass walls and windows, and end tables that needed wiping. A good nightly mopping and cleaning would solve this.
The room decor is dark and not particularly inviting, and our windows on the 14th floor desperately needed to be cleaned. The h2o beauty products were appreciated. I was disappointed that with this being a bank building, there was no safe in the room. There was a microwave and small refrigerator.
The rooftop pool is small, but passable. We couldn't even use the indoor pool because the temperature inside was like a sauna and it was August in Texas.
Overall, this is an acceptable place for families because of the breakfast and snacks served. Improving the housekeeping would have enhanced my stay, as would updating the room decor. If I were to visit San Antonio again, I would try another hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators and on a high floor. We were on the 10th floor the first nigh...

Thank You for selecting the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk on your recent trip to the San Antonio area and for taking the time to post a Trip Advisor review regarding your experience with us.

Our hotel clearly did not meet your expectations on cleanliness, nor ours. We aim to provide a perfect stay for each and every guest, but in your case we failed. I want you to know that I have addressed the specific issues you mentioned on your review about sticky floors, dirty end tables, and finger-printed glass. We have a team and processes in place to prevent these issues, but must execute consistently. We certainly appreciate the feedback. These issues actually allowed for some great training topics in our department. Also, thank you for the alert regarding the temperature at our indoor pool. We were able to check the settings and monitor the ambient temperature of the room.

Should your travel plans bring you back to San Antonio in the future, I would like to know and assist in making your stay one that reflects the level of service and accommodations that we strive for and are proud of. Please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Sincerely,
Matthew Hosack

We had the romance package that upgraded us to the 2 room king with a terrace. The terrace was great but when we got to our room it was 88 degrees in the room and took until the next morning to cool down. Was not happy about that, was expecting it to be cool considering it was 102 outside. Our fridge also was not working. Had maintenance come and they brought another one that was just plugged into a outlet in the middle of the living room. Breakfast was good, the kickback which is essentially dinner was pitiful. Since I had stayed at the drury across the street from this location I knew what to expect and expected way more than hot dogs and Mac & cheese on a Saturday night since we had really good food at our previous stay. Each guest gets three alcoholic beverages, stay away from mixed drinks, they are just juice! Our bedding had makeup on it and our towel we got at the pool had a blood stain. Which brings me to the part that made me choose not to stay here again...the pool hours. Me and my hubby have stayed at numerous hotels and we all know they have the hours sign that we have never had someone actually enforce. It's always been you can stay as long as your not being rowdy. They had a worker come around and pick up every towel at 9:55 and at 10 exactly 2 security guards came up and very rudely started telling everyone "get out, you gotta get out." That was beyond unnecessary. The elevators were extremely slow and we had to take the stairs more than once because the lines to take the elevators. The room was average with older worn out furniture. TV was nice but pic was a little blurry. Bed was comfy and shower had good pressure. Valet was friendly, when we checked out my battery was dead for some reason and they jumped it. We still had things to do so they parked our truck in the front for us so we wouldny have to find parking elsewhere. So this room was definitely not worth what we paid and won't stay here next time.

Thank you for staying with us and for posting a review of your stay on Trip Advisor. Our goal is to exceed the expectations of each and every guest and your review reflects that we failed to meet our goal. I apologize for this and will use your specific feedback to directly improve our product and service offering for future guests. We certainly appreciate the detailed feedback you offered about our housekeeping failures, arrival experience with a warm hotel room, and about our 5:30 KickBack mixed drinks. Please know we have had our liquor guns inspected and calibrated for accuracy. Last, please accept our apology if our third party security team was rude or abrasive in any way while clearing the pool. They are a direct reflection of the Drury Plaza Hotel and such behavior will not be tolerated. We will ensure the security management team is aware of this incident and immediate improvement is implemented.

Thank you for allowing the opportunity for us to improve. We truly appreciate the feedback.
We understand your desire to stay elsewhere on future visits, but certainly hope you will reconsider and give us another chance. If I can be of further asisstance with a future visit, please call me directly.

We stayed at this hotel while visiting the Riverwalk in San Antonio in July. It was so nice and very clean the happy hour was so good with appetizers and entree's The room was very roomy and the bed was very comfortable. Hope to come back soon, we will stay here on our next visit to San Antonio. Also we got to the hotel at 11:00 am and they let us check in early. That was a plus to us.
