My husband, teenage son and I stayed here in June 2014 and had a wonderful stay. We were in an "oversized deluxe queen" room, which had a small living area, microwave, sink and refrigerator, as well as two queen beds and a nice bath. This hotel is a beautiful old bank building that has been renovated in excellent taste. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for us without falling over one another and we could see the Alamo from our room.

One of the best perks of this hotel are the free snacks (which can really be a meal, chicken tenders, baked potatos, big salads, etc...) and 3 beverages (adult included!) each evening as well as a free HUGE hot breakfast every morning. We saved a LOT just by having breakfast at the hotel, it's terrific if you have kids!

I will mention that the price of parking was $21 and seemed kind of steep; however, I believe that parking all along the Riverwalk is limited and priced at a premium due to availability, so sometimes you just have to pay more. With all the perks at this hotel, I feel the free drinks, evening snacks and breakfast more than offset the cost of parking.

There is a pool on the roof of the hotel and the view from it is amazing. We were there during a peak summer time, so it was crowded and we didn't swim, however, it looked very nice.

When you make reservations, ask for the oversized room, very spacious and we loved it, enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for the oversized queen!

The hotel staff are very nice. When my husband and I arrived at the hotel we thought we had reserved a bigger room like the one we had stayed at previously we let the front desk know and she was very nice about it she even let us upgrade to a bigger room at no extra charge! Not to mention the hotel is right on the riverwalk. You get complimentary breakfast and they have a 5:30 kickback with complimentary drinks. Overall this hotel is a 5 star I recommend you to stay here you're going to love it!

From check-in to check-out, this hotel is the BEST! Front Desk manager, Martha, was spot on every time that I had an experience with her. She smiled and made eye contact with every one who came to the desk, she was sharp and efficient. Anything requested was fulfilled within seconds, a true asset to Drury Inn & Suites. Raymond from the commercial advertising of this location ACTUALLY works here. He is as friendly in person as he is on the advertising. This was a PLUS and major KUDOS to Drury because it shows that they believe in their employees whereas some hotels pay actors to "say" good things about them. We were dropped off at the hotel for a four day stay and due to the being hotel located right on the RiverWalk and in close proximity to a lot of local attractions, we didn't need a car to get around. You won't go hungry either: Full Breakfast (scrambled eggs, diced ham, shredded cheese, biscuits, white gravy, sausage patties, breakfast potatoes, fresh waffles, bagels, cream cheese, toast, jelly, asst. cereal, milk, orange juice, apples juice, coffee, doughnuts, apples, bananas.) Afternoon snack of popcorn and cold sodas, Nightly rotating full dinner menu: For Example:Saturdays (unlimited hot dogs, chili, mac n cheese, green salad, nachos, baked potato, and unlimited cold soda) - Sundays (unlimited fried chicken tenderloins, mac n cheese, nachos, minestrone soup, green salad, baked potato, and unlimited cold soda) Complimentary mixed drink, cocktails, wine, and beer during rotating dinner menu. You can't go to another hotel in this vicinity and receive any better hospitality, service, value or price.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the River Walk.

Great service from everyone at this hotel. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was better than many downtown places I've stayed. Nice view from the pool on the 23rd floor. Walking distance to Market Square. Only neg. they serve Pepsi, I prefer Coke.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Drury Plaza. It is located at the quiet end of the Riverwalk with an easy walk to the Alamo and the Rivercity Mall. It is in an old bank building with lots of historical charm. The staff members were very nice and eager to help, although not all were knowledgeable about their city. A concierge would be an added bonus here.
The hotel serves a fairly substantial breakfast that has standard buffet affair. They have popcorn available in the afternoon and a happy hour with free alcoholic drinks and hearty appetizers. All food is served on the second floor overlooking the main lobby. Because of its location, the smell of pancakes, fried potatoes, and popcorn permeates the building most of the day. We were there on a sold out weekend and were always able to find a table and food was plentiful. Unfortunately, a significant number of the guests at this hotel did not understand that "free" doesn't mean "pig out". We were disgusted by the amount of wasted food piled on tables. This is not a comment against the hotel, rather the manners of its patrons.
We were disappointed in the overall housekeeping of the hotel. The common areas and hallways had sticky floors (due to the spilling of food), fingerprinted glass walls and windows, and end tables that needed wiping. A good nightly mopping and cleaning would solve this.
The room decor is dark and not particularly inviting, and our windows on the 14th floor desperately needed to be cleaned. The h2o beauty products were appreciated. I was disappointed that with this being a bank building, there was no safe in the room. There was a microwave and small refrigerator.
The rooftop pool is small, but passable. We couldn't even use the indoor pool because the temperature inside was like a sauna and it was August in Texas.
Overall, this is an acceptable place for families because of the breakfast and snacks served. Improving the housekeeping would have enhanced my stay, as would updating the room decor. If I were to visit San Antonio again, I would try another hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators and on a high floor. We were on the 10th floor the first night and were awakened by street noise. Ask for a room on the quiet side.

Thank You for selecting the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk on your recent trip to the San Antonio area and for taking the time to post a Trip Advisor review regarding your experience with us.

Our hotel clearly did not meet your expectations on cleanliness, nor ours. We aim to provide a perfect stay for each and every guest, but in your case we failed. I want you to know that I have addressed the specific issues you mentioned on your review about sticky floors, dirty end tables, and finger-printed glass. We have a team and processes in place to prevent these issues, but must execute consistently. We certainly appreciate the feedback. These issues actually allowed for some great training topics in our department. Also, thank you for the alert regarding the temperature at our indoor pool. We were able to check the settings and monitor the ambient temperature of the room.

Should your travel plans bring you back to San Antonio in the future, I would like to know and assist in making your stay one that reflects the level of service and accommodations that we strive for and are proud of. Please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Sincerely,
Matthew Hosack
