“Excllent convention location.”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

It is in the heart of the San Antonio River Walk, literally just walk out the back door to the walk and around the corner to the Alamo. Very clean and good service. I thought the rooms were a little small for what you are paying for but considering this is conference hotel you don't spend much time in the room.

Room Tip: I would go as high as you can. I hear the view from the 36th floor is spectacular.

I was here for a convention in February and the weather was very cold! The hotel is in a wonderful location -on the riverwalk which means it is near several different types of restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend staying here if you are in San Antonio.

Dear vahanning
Thank you for your post. We had a very unusually cold February as did most of the country, but are thankful that spring has finally sprung. I would have to agree with you in your assessment of the hotel’s location. The location easily lends itself to a variety of restaurants and fun! Thank you for your recommendation. All the best,

In San Antonio for a convention, the Marriott River Center Hotel was perfect. Affordable prices, cheerful and professional staff, including reception, concierge, housekeeping, bar and doormen. In-room WIFI, business center, and boarding pass printing stations. Ice and soft drink locations on each floor. The location cannot be beat for access to the Riverwalk, the Convention Center, the Alamo, etc. Would probably stay here again, but would specifically request a room not adjacent to the elevator shafts.

Room Tip: away from the elevators and the higher the better

Green Features: the usual suggestion to keep towels for more than one day; easy-to-use individual room environmental controls; thermal draperies to preserve room energy

Stayed here four nights. Pluses are; location, comfortable beds, and the view was great. Minuses are; our room was noisy with whooshing and clanging noises all the time (was it the elevators?), and the fact that they will nickle and dime you for everything. The room service was extremely expensive. Five bucks for two pieces of toast, plus a 22% service fee, plus a three dollar delivery fee. plus tax. Your toast comes in at over $4.50 a slice. There was a coffee maker in the room. My wife said the coffee was awful. There was also one bag of cheap tea: and that's all I got in four days. Want to use the house computer? It will cost you. I've been to less expensive places that served a full breakfast or at least a continental breakfast. No such thing here. San Antonio is an expensive place to visit. The city is dynamic, busy, interesting and very crowded; and the air quality leaves a lot to be desired. After two days of breathing exhaust fumes I developed a constant low grade headache that didn't go away until I got home. Other hotels have a shuttle to the airport. Not this one. It cost us $40 each way to take the GO shuttle. If you visit San Antonio and stay at this hotel it will help if you are one of the 1%. Bring lots of money.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the elevators

Green Features: Didn't really notice any. Texas is not the most environmentally aware state in the country.

Thank you for taking the time to rate our hotel. The hotel is located right in the middle of the action on the Riverwalk, convenient to most everything you want to do while staying in San Antonio. Because of that, sometimes the area gets very busy with families and since we are conveniently located to the convention center, convention attendees are constantly coming and going. As your post mentioned, the city is busy and dynamic and with the #1 and #2 tourist attraction in the state residing here, I hope you will return and give us another opportunity to showcase our vibrant city. All the best,

We stayed with our teenage son for a long weekend. The pros: LOCATION! You are right on the Riverwalk which means you are within walking distance of great people watching, food, drinks, etc. The conceirge lounge for Elite members was very nice and very comfortable. Prompt valet service. Short walk to the Alamo. The rooms were very clean. The cons: The rooms could use a "decorative refresh" but it was not such an issue that it would stop me from returning. The sink was just outside the bathroom and it was very tight for three people to put their toiletries on. It was a little too cramped for three of us and there is no fan in the bathroom aand it gets very humid and stuffy. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons for me and I would go back again.

A co-worker and I were there for a conference. After a VERY rocky start on this trip, we were greeted with a smile and felt welcome in the hotel from the moment we walked in the door. The rooms are average size but a very comfy bed, large bathroom, and a wonderful view of the city. My only complaint is there is only one mirror in the room and one in the closet right behind the basin. When two women are trying to get ready for the day, it was difficult to be in one small area. All of the staff from the maids to the bar were so nice and would go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This property is also right on the riverwalk so it is very easy to get around. I would stay here in a heart beat again. I thoroughly enjoyed every thing. OH! One more thing, the shampoo and other samples they give you in the room smelled great and not like old aftershave like some of the hotels give out these days.

Dear Lori F,
Thank you for your great review. I’m pleased to know you and your co-worker enjoyed your stay and were able to find some play time after a day of work. I appreciate your comments regarding the service as we strive to welcome everyone as if old friends. As you mentioned, we’re in a great location on the River Walk, so easy to get around. The hotel was nice enough. Our room was clean and in good condition. Housekeeping did a good job. The bar, although easily crowded, had great help and the drinks were well made. The Starbucks had its usual good coffee and goodies. WHY am I complaining? Because it cost $16 PER DAY to use our computer in our room. We could walk downstairs and use it in the lobby or for a cup of coffee, use the Starbucks wifi connection but it meant we had to leave our rooms to do it. Seems to me in the world today we can find free wifi in just about any fast food place, Starbucks or express-type hotels so why not a major hotel which is across the street from a convention center whose job it is serve out of town meetings? When I mentioned my displeasure at the desk as I was checking out this morning, I was told Marriott Corporation is considering raising the rate to $20. UNBELIEVABLE!
