the sink stopper stuck and had to use knife to open it, the hot water in the shower took about 10 minutes to be hot enough to get into, the AC took forever to work because of the sunset hitting the windows. All else was very clean and quiet. Even had balcony but it was too hot in the August evening. Overall hotel was great

We had been to this hotel several years ago and were pleasantly surprised by the renovations. Our river view room was on the 7th floor and had a limited view of the river which was fine for us. Other reviews are correct, if you want a better river view you should ask for a lower floor. Standard size room, but the bathroom was larger that expected
The location is perfect for a weekend on the Riverwalk, within walking distance to the Alamo and all kinds of restaurants and bars. It was a holiday weekend and summer in Texas so yes, it was hot and crowded, the Hilton proved to be a cool retreat from all of that. Oh, and stop by Durty Nelly's for a brew, we saw a great piano player and had a ball with the sing along.
Every staff member we encountered was super friendly. The longest wait we had was pulling into the hotel, there was a large group with two cars and Lots of luggage ahead of us so sat in the street for a bit until they were unloaded and their vehicles pulled out of the way. We checked out about 9 in the morning and our car was ready within 10 minutes of our call.

Room Tip: Request a lower floor on the river side for a nice view of the River Walk but understand that it may...

We got a river view room. The cost of the room was very reasonable. The hotel is in a very central location therefore you have access to many restaurants, bars, shops and the Alamo. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly, polite and professional.

We really loved staying at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. Loved having a balcony overlooking the riverwalk. Great restaraunts on site and nearby. It was a short walk to visit the Alamo and the convention center is nearby also. Also close by is where you catch the boat to take you on the river. I recommend not going in the summertime, it was way too hot and crowded. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was so so. I think they could be a little more friendly. Wait staff is the restaraunts were awesome.

Room Tip: Balcony overlooking the riverwalk

A great, quiet room with a balcony view of the River Walk, large and well-lit shower along with a very comfortable bed. Great location in the southern part of downtown. Good restaurant and bar options.

Overall an extremely nice and comfortable hotel!
I recommend working on your first impressions because the front desk clerk was unfriendly at check-in.
We were checked-in to a "riverview" room that had NO RIVERVIEW. Guest services agreed to move us to a lower floor to get a better view. MAKE SURE YOU GET 6TH FLOOR OR LOWER FOR THE BEST RIVERVIEW.
The bellman that helped move us to our new room was making rude remarks...wish I had gotten his name. My grandmother stated "if we are going to pay for a riverview, we would really like to see the riverwalk" at which he replied "ma'am, it's a river not a lake!" RUDE!
Parking charges are ridiculous. We saved money by parking on the city's floors of their SAME GARAGE for only $15.00/night. We didn't need to move the car because we were in walking distance of everything we were interested in; The Riverwalk, Alamo, Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe it or Not.
In our new room, there was 2 yellow jacket's nests on our balcony. So much for enjoying our riverview. They said the pest control come in the mornings so we should move rooms. NO! We JUST moved rooms and got settled...
This is when ROLANDO HERNANDEZ (Housekeeping Supervisor) CAME TO SAVE THE DAY! He informed us that pest control would be in first thing in the morning to take care of it. He even brought a BANANA for MY BABY. HOW THOUGHTFUL!!! He said "I thought the baby might want a banana when she wakes up!"
He got into work at 3:30pm the next day and had left a voicemail on our room phone at 3:25pm to FOLLOW-UP and MAKE SURE we were taken care of, WHICH WE WERE!!!
Totally turned our trip around. I could not thank Rolando enough for his OUTSTANDING customer service.

Room Tip: 6th floor and LOWER for best Riverwalk views!!!

Loved everything about this property! Ideal location on the Riverwalk, we never had to take the car out once we parked. Easy walking for shopping and dining. Had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the RiverWalk. Comfy beds, mini-fridge and a very cold A/C, (which you need in TX)! We sat on our balcony in the evenings watching the river boat cruises down below. Had breakfast each morning downstairs in the hotel restaurant. Full buffet breakfast with cooked to order omelet station, along with a wide selection of cereals, pastries, and other hot items and an assortment of beverages. You can dine inside or outside and we chose outside along the river. Can't wait to return !

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, overlooking the river :)
