“A mile from the AFB.”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

The people here were what made this stay good. It is a typical motel room. It did have a refrigerator & microwave. Queen size bed. But again; nothing spectacular. The rooms were clean for most peoples standards. I'm kind of a clean freak, so for me it could have been cleaner. But, again the people made the difference.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side are quieter.

This was my first stay at Red Roof Inn. The facility was very nice and comfortable. The staff is excellent...very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable. The location was convenient to the Lackland AFB. We will definitely stay here again when we return to San Antonio.

It would have been less of a blow to me if they had charged $49, that is the sort of rate this place represents. The man at reception was very pleasant and professional, he did not reflect the sad state of this motel! He was the only good thing about the place. The room looked clean at first glance, but we only had one small bath towel to share and 2 hand towels appeared to to have been used, had Brown marks on them. The coffee pot still held the remains of someone else's coffee. Very dim light in the shower so I had to leave the bathroom door open. The people who manage this place need to step it up a bit, motivated staff and good work ethic can overcome tired old decor. I would have given 4 stars if it was clean to my standards because of its proximity to Lackland. At least there were no bed bugs - the only other plus! Would only stay here if there was no other place. We could not get in anywhere else due to heavy rain and flooding :(

We received key cards to occupied rooms and it took 45 min to get new cards. We had to hunt down the new cards ourselves after the initial report of occupied rooms. The check out times obviously weren't engorced because the folks in the rooms were ousted and didn't return. The guy who brought the new key cards by reeked of beer. One of the rooms didn't have a TV remote, and the one that was brought by only worked for five minutes. The other room was on the first floor and lacked a door sweep on the main door. So we found dead tiny roaches in the refrigerator. We also encountered a few lives ones throughout the night.

Our room had live cockroaches and dead crickets in it. It was very dirty, had squashed cockroaches on the walls. Walls were visibly dirty. Shower curtain was covered in mold and mildew.
Also, some of our jewelry was stolen from the room.
Staff seemed they didn't care and still wanted to charge us for the room.
At breakfast, the toaster didn't work and the counters were not clean at all.

Where do I start. They missed up the reservations. We needed 2 rooms side by side, first floor, we has 2 handicapped ppl in party. To get 2 first floors we had to be in different buildings. Stayed 4 nights, had to fetch our own towels 3 days. Finally got a refrig. that worked on the 3rd day. Finally got a TV remote on the 3rd day, not that TV picture was watchable. Maid only came twice. Shower curtain was too short, flooded the bathroom with every shower. One wall had the TV refrig., microwave, and a lamp with with a 2 outlet electrical plug. Hello, had to choose which two to use. All made for a miserable visit to San Antonio and Lackland AFB.

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel.

We stayed here with our kid. Its a decent hotel with very basic facilities. We booked the superior king room. The room wasn't very big and so was bathroom, but since we were out most of the time we weren't bothered with that.

Its almost 11 miles drive to Riverwalk and 6 miles drive to Seaworld which was okay.

The lady at the reception while check-in was very rude and was annoyed everytime someone entered the reception for queries.

The breakfast is complimentary with toast, juice , fruits and coffee . It served our purpose.
