“Great design and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Had a great time. Great spot facing the harbor so you can watch all the activity. Stayed in the Euro area which kind of feels like a swanky hostel with a shared space with 3 private rooms, full windows facing the harbor. They had a place for us to park out bikes in the locked garage. Everything was pleasant and we were able to walk everywhere. Highly recommend this spot even though the $200 price tag is steep.

Room Tip: The Euro rooms are nice if you don't mind sharing some space with two other rooms. Otherwise you...

Overall I am giving 3 1/2 Stars and Good.., I did want to like this place a lot for its high rating on Trip Advisor... We got there at 3pm the room wasnt ready yet so we parked the car in the underground garage it had our name on the parking spot..(nice touch) walked around the village to kill some time and they did good calling us bout 15 minutes later. The staff was friendly when we checked in and showed us #1 suite room great view of the harbor. After checking in we had to hit the stairs they were pretty steep they walked us up to the room with all our bags no one helped or offered to carry bags they have an elevator but it appears to be only for handicapped people...

We got the the room was very nice spacious they had put out blueberry's and strawberries for the granola next morning...that was a nice touch...The room has a euro modern sleek look. The bed was very comfy...The Couch though it looked great it was lacking for me personally not comfortable to relax on firm with a very low back on the couch and the Ottoman / coffee table in front of the couch missed the mark for comfort as were the wicker seats up by the window..I tried sitting in them but again they look nice but arent comfortable to seat and look at the great view .... The TV looked great flat screen the remote was a little tricky with DirecTV i am a Dishnetwork fan... The Remote was also a problem it barely worked from the couch and wouldn't work from the bed at all...called front desk they send a lady up and she tried to make it work , I suggested new batteries but she ignored that and kept fidgeting with tv and finally brought the tv out from the wall which helped the remote from the couch but not from the bed...

The Bathroom and the Shower were top notch. Great Lighting .again very clean lines white grey tiles Great Tub shower - just be careful stepping out of tub...separate area for the Toilet....the Towels were ok kinda rough..i realized they were more green conscious towels..just ok no big deal...They also had 2 nice robes hanging up in the bathroom again nice touch...

I got a really good nights sleep in the comfy bed and sheets...well it was good until early morning when the sun came up I had put the blinds down night before and well I like to sleep in darkness (i am part vampire).its an east facing room and well the early morning sun came blasting in...through the blinds...so pretty much by 6:45 i couldn't sleep anymore...
Suggest Black out Blinds or curtains...if you like the sun in the morning leave the blinds open..you will love it.....

I was a little disappointed I tried to be fair in rating this place ...It is nice and clean and close to all the restaurants especially cask and schooner right next door Great Breakfast!!!!! & Dinner i will review them too...The island inn at 123 west was i think a little pricey and lil over rated by some...for what is was and where it was....and it sorta missed the mark for comfort...but it looked great inside high end finishes were used...

Hello TLC253,

We appreciate the time you’ve taken to follow up to the review submitted by WynsWrld98 for your shared experience in Sweet 1. We remain saddened that your experience with us fell short of your expectations and our reputation and sincerely apologize for any challenges you may have experienced.

We’re glad that you appreciated our friendly team, personalized garage parking spot, fresh fruit, milk, OJ and Island-made granola as well as our cushy bedding, soaking tub, rainshower, view and location. We take every guest experience very seriously and can assure you that we've got the TV remote working great and have just installed room darkening curtains in Sweet 1, Sweet 2 and Sweet 3 to help make sure the natural brightness remains available to all guests but can be moderated as desired.

Additionally, our team of Experience Ambassadors is happy to help with luggage upon arrival. We also have a handy card in each guestroom by the in-room telephone that reminds guests to ‘schedule a pick-up’ if they need a hand getting luggage back downstairs upon departure.

We’d still love the chance to follow up with you off-line and haven’t heard back to our follow-up e-mail. As we mentioned in that message, we can’t take your experience back, but we’d appreciate the chance to provide you a better one if you’d like to give us another opportunity. We are at your service and encourage you to phone or write if there is anything else we may help you with.

All the best,

The Island Inn ‘friendly’ Ambassadors

My husband and I splurged on this hotel for part of our honeymoon before going on a kayak trip in FridayHarbor. The staff were fantastic, the room had great extras like fresh fruit, OJ, milk, granola and coffee in the room for breakfast. The bed was amazingly comfortable, robes were soft and my husband loved the TV. Bottom line- more than we usually pay for hotels, but the convenience (literally within sight of the ferry) and small hotel feel along with their amazing service made it more than worth it. I've already decided we need to come back across the country for an anniversary down the road!

Room Tip: We stayed in Euro 4- private entrance, private en suite. No harbor view from inside, but a huge room...

For $280 incl parking for Sweet 1, a studio, I was expecting more. The staff were friendly there are cute slogans around like Ready Set Slow and view of harbor was very nice plus windows well insulated which cut ferry noise out Also bed super comfortable and sheets soft and plush. A/C worked well although controlling it confusung them having a cheat sheet by controller woyld be helpful.

I found the couch not comfortable it has a really low back so nowhere for your shoulders and head to go. Would have been nice to have a soft throw on it to cuddle with.

Blinds are paper thin and room blasts with light early since faces east. They provide eye shades but I find them uncomfortable to sleep with.

Bath towels look nice but are rough and scratchy thumbs down.

The remote control for DirecTV wasn't working from couch you had to get up and get close to it to get it to work. We called front desk asked them to replace batteries which they didn't do but instead showed us how to telescope TV out from wall which worked but sadly whoever stays in room next will get same problem.

Not what I expect for $280 for a studio. Just got back from Hawaii paid $220 for a 1 bedroom not studio had view and cooked to order full breakfast Embassy Suites which blows this away and everyone knows Hawaii is expensive.

Hello WynsWrld98,

Thanks so much for visiting and for taking the time to share the details of your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed our team, vibe, cushy bedding and view! That said, we’re saddened to hear that your experience with us fell short of your expectations and, even worse, our reputation.

We apologize for any confusion regarding your thermostat. We do pre-set the air-conditioned guestrooms we offer (Sweets and Euros) and review those comfort settings with each guest during their in-room welcome orientation, offer to help modify those settings as needed and also provided a quick tutorial and an in-room guide to make sure your room is just the way you like it.

Our accommodations are unique so we do dedicate a page on our website for each room we’ve got. These pages offer a detailed description, photo-gallery, and 360 tours that help make sure you’ve selected the right spot for your experience with us. We describe Sweet 1 as “Comfortable living inn a corner room that lets the light shine inn” and apologize if the natural brightness disrupted your experience with us.

We chose our waffle weave towels because they’re made from premier 100% natural cotton that makes for an absorbent towel that's soft and also eco-friendly as they require far less energy to launder and dry up much faster than standard towels. They should never feel rough so we’ll inspect our inventory to make sure all of our towels are top-notch.

Lastly, we’re disappointed to hear that we didn’t get the remote right for you. We replaced the batteries for your DirecTV remote and thought that we had everything fixed up when we left your room. We would have happily returned to help you further had we known you weren’t satisfied with our service. We can assure you that we’ve got everything in working order.

We apologize again that we weren’t what you expected and would love to get another chance to provide you the type of experience we’re known for.

All the best,

The Island Inn ‘super comfortable’ Ambassadors

We stayed her for 4 nights in Penthouse 2. This place is simply perfect. It's got very high end finishes in the units, and is incredibly comfortable. Location is perfect (minutes from ferry), Staff is very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is impeccable.

I can't say enough about how nice a place this is and what a great value it is. We loved it so much we booked our next trip before checking out. I'd recommend getting a unit with a view as the view is jaw dropping and just fun to see the comings and goings of the boats and people.

The place is very green as well, which appeals to us.

Our shower had a steam bath (awesome), great bath products, and very nice towels / sheets. Unit is well stocked with all the necessary items to cook, entertain and just relax.

I highly recommend paying for the parking in advance so that you have a spot.

We can't wait to return.

This hotel in Friday Harbor is as nice, or nicer, than top hotels in NYC, Chicago, San Fran, etc. Every single detail has been thought of...and then some. Heated floors, light breakfast, good coffee, insanely awesome shower/tub, comfy bed, personalized everything (directions, paper, etc.) great view and much more. We stayed in the "sweet 2" and did not want to leave. After a day outdoors, it was nice to return here with its lovely views and the pampered surroundings. The owners/managers were also wonderful and accommodating with our questions and helping us determine where to eat, get a taxi, etc. When we go back to SJI, we'll be staying here again...hopefully for more than one night, too. Even if it's a splurge for your budget, it's very worth it!

Room Tip: Check out their awesome website with webcam 360' views.

Perfect location, great quality, a wonderful experience. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it for an experience to remember.
The steam shower in our unit was a delight - once you worked out that the receptionist really did say switch it on for about 20mins first, so it's ready.
The views were so wonderful from the penthouse we didn't want to leave....
Breakfast provided is just granola and orange juice but if you want more there's no problem as the local supermarket is well stocked and just a short stroll up the hill. Or there's the Rocky Cafe which has great quality food on offer and lots of choice.

Room Tip: The Euro rooms have a view from the communal lounge if you want to save your pennies. But if you wan...
