Beautiful historic home, walking distance from town - perfect place to stay in Friday Harbour. My husband and I were on our way home to Idaho, having spent several days in Victoria, BC - we stayed two nights with Roxy and Doug in their lovely Arbor Room. As several other reviewers have said - entering Kirk House is like taking a step back in time. Lovely music and fresh flowers greet you and all the furnishings are in keeping with the historic home. Doug was away when we arrived and Roxy had a full house - all four guest rooms were occupied. She handled everything beautifully and made us feel totally 'at home'. All the bath amenties were from the local Pelindaba Lavender Farm - lovely smelling and really nice to be able to try the products before buying at the local Pelindaba store. The common area of the home was cozy and comfortable - we even had a fire to ward off the chill of a rainy afternoon. Great treats and beverages, as well as fresh fruit and candy were always available. (We were there over Easter and Roxy spoiled my husband with M & M's and chocolate eggs!) Mornings began with a basket of hot coffee or tea being delivered to our room. Breakfast at 9a.m. and both were wonderful - Roxy is a very creative cook! We were unable to finish our meals - and that was a darn shame!!!!!

Something Roxy and Doug provided that we really appreciated, aside from them giving us verbal ratings on local restaurants, was a book that listed a lot of the local eateries, pubs - it provided a copy of their menus / prices and on the back of the sheets, there was space for Kirk House guests to give their ratings. It was informative to see what other travelers had said. Another thing we found helpful was 'emergency tips' listed in our room - what to do 'in case of'. You don't always think of things like that when you are staying in a B & B, or we don't.

My husband wanted to stay on a different Island; but I have always wanted to spend some time in Friday Harbour - perhaps it's all the 'beach reads' I've enjoyed over the years that have taken place there - but he enjoyed our stay as much as I did, due in large part to our choice of Kirk House B & B. Lovely place, lovely people, great time! We would love to return and have already recommended Kirk House to friends. Thanks so much, Z & Gary P / Boise, ID :-)

Room Tip: We got to see all four rooms - all had their own charm. We stayed in the Arbor Room and were very c...

Planning our 1st vacation as a couple wasn't easy. But when our 2 year anniversary came around the Kirkhouse B&B was the best decision! The food was amazing and we felt so relaxed. Three nights was the perfect amount of time for us to recharge. They were so nice and welcoming. We felt like it was home away from home. Definitely coming back again.

Room Tip: Any room at the B&B is fine. We loved staying in the garden room. Very quiet. Great sun light.

We had a little trouble getting a hold of Roxy and Doug when we arrived earlier in the day prior to check in time, eventually we just showed up the house, and had to track Roxy down outside of the house. It was a little frustrating, but the rest of the stay was so pleasant and amazing, I would hardly count that against them. The house is gorgeous and full of historical charm, but it is very much like being in a house with other people! We stayed in the Veranda Room, which is next to the common area, so you can hear people moving about. The room was just how it was pictured and the fire place was a delight! We love having access to the room from the porch, it almost felt like our own little cabin. The house was a lot more well equipped than I thought! They have everything you could think of there ready for you including toiletries, cork screws, board games, etc.

My favorite part about the Kirk House is the treats! Around 3 p.m. Roxy places out a spread fit for happy hour which includes local wine, cheese, and fruit! It's nice to grab a snack and think about what you might what to do the rest of your day or the next day. We only stayed 1 night, but a second night would've been nice. The breakfast was AMAZING. I could smell the delicousness wafting into our room in the morning. A gorgeous fresh fruit, yogurt, and homemade granola parfait, buttermilk blueberry pancakes and pancakes...it was hard not to over indulge! But that's what vacation is for right? It was even Sunday so there were mimosas too! The breakfast menu changes depending on whats in season, but guests who stayed the night before were raving about Roxy's southwestern quiche and pastries from the day before. I wanted to stay a second night just to have another breakfast, but work was calling!

Roxy and Doug are SUPER friendly and a very sweet couple. Super helpful, with plenty of information to share. The garden that Doug works really hard is a great oasis. When we rented bikes, Doug even stored them in the garden shed just to keep them safe. Not that crime is an issue at all on the island. I loved my stay but it's the only place I've ever stay in on the island. I would still be interested in trying what else the island has to offer.

Room Tip: We got the Veranda Room which is a great treat for any couple! The laundry room is right outside the...

My wife and I spent an evening at The Kirk House a couple of weeks ago. We were so very pleased. The historic house and accommodations were beautiful and tasteful, the owners so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. We felt like special guests in their home, but had all the privacy we needed. The location was ideal, just a few blocks from the Harbor, but away from traffic. The breakfast was amazing, with the best yogurt-fruit-granola I have ever had. Then there was apple-caramel French toast. Most cherished, though, was the hospitality. We highly recommend The Kirk House.

Right near downtown, but not on a busy main streets. Doug and Roxy have made each room to keep you perfectly relaxed during your stay, and they really care about you enjoying your whole visit to the island, not just the time spent at the B&B.

Room Tip: Terrace room has outside access as well as privacy and a full bath.

We came to Friday Harbor specifically to experience our first Bed and Breakfast stay. The Kirk House was the best possible choice we could have made. The home is beautiful and the hosts Doug and Roxy are amazing at what they do. They are friendly and helpful, helping us with restaurant and activity choices. Roxy is an AMAZING cook! Doug and Roxy listened to what we said in casual conversation and applied what they learned to serve us better. Our stay was simply perfect!

If you are looking for a place to spend a quiet weekend, or a home away from home for an entire week, I cannot imagine a better choice than the Kirk House. A short walk from everything Friday Harbor has to offer, the Kirk House offers personal service, great attention to detail, and outstanding food. My wife and I were most impressed by the cleanliness of the house and room. The owners, Roxy and Doug, put a great deal of themselves into their B&B. They want their guests to have a wonderful time, and it shows!
