Ok, let me preface this by saying that we are from Texas. Texas - you know - where Mexican food was practically invented. Texas - where most every Mexican restaurant has a couple of ladies on staff who speak very little English & make incredibly delicious homemade tortillas. So should I even be writing a review of a Mexican restaurant on San Juan Island? Probably not, but we did eat there, so... just keep the above in mind. As an overview, I'll have to say the food here was better than expected. We ordered fajitas - the meat would rival anything in Texas (well seasoned & tender) & it came with mounds of lovely sauteed onions & peppers. The salsa was also surprisingly good. What fell a little short were the tortillas, rice & beans. The flour tortillas tasted like they had just been plucked off the grocery store shelf - too thick, too doughy, too floury. After eating 1, I just ate the fillings w/out another tortilla as it detracted from the lovely meat. The black beans were too thick & the rice was tasteless & overcooked. Still, I would go back just for the meat & the salsa! Staff was friendly & helpful across the board.
