I have to admit, when I first heard the word "hostel", I was hesitant. However, the recommendation for this place came from a trusted friend who lives and works on the island. I gave it a go...and don't regret it one bit! My mother and I stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights for our mother/daughter trip. We had the private room with the driftwood bunk beds. I was impressed with how clean the place was! The sheets were nice and the location of the room was great - not to far from the bathroom, and not too close to the common area (although noise was never an issue - everyone that was staying in the hostel was considerate with that!). Sharing a bathroom, while being a pain, saved us a ton of money off of a conventional hotel. I wish we had taken advantage of one of the 2 FULL SIZE kitchens! The hostel is nicely located too - not so close to town that you hear everyone but not so far that you need a car to get to town. We had a car, but only used it when we wanted to do activities that weren't in town (American Camp, Roche Harbor, English Camp, etc etc). When we went to town, we walked! It was also neat getting to talk/meet with people from all over!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice, clean, convenient place to stay...and doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it!
