For our first visit to Friday Harbor, we chose the Tucker House, and are glad that we did. The staff were always helpful and accomodating, starting from day 1, when they arranged a room switch to avoid the stairs that my wife's knee could not handle. Our room, Goose in a Pond, was spacious and well-furnished, albeit a bit dark. There was no AC, but with the cool evenings, the ceiling fan was quite adequate. There is a romantic gas-fired stove that can come on automatically if it gets cool. Bathroom well-equipped, and plenty of towels. We had a full breakfast delivered to our room every morning, with a hot entree, granola, fruit and usually some extra. The location was perfect - far enough away from the bustle of the harbor to allow for quiet, but a short walk to the center of town. The inn has a fleet of bicycles for free use. They also offer free kayaks, but to use them you would need a car to get them to a launch site. We would definitely stay there again if we go back to the San Juans.

Room Tip: Wide variety. If you are in the main house, breakfast is in their dining room rather than delivered

Edward,

Thank you for staying with us and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are glad that we were able to accommodate you with a ground floor unit for your wife's convenience. The stair cases in these hundred year old buildings can be challenging. We completed a major renovation to the Goose in the Pond cottage last winter that included all new lighting fixtures. We will certainly revisit the lighting in the cottage now that the days are getting shorter.

We appreciate your taking the time to write about your stay. We look forward to your return visit when your travels bring you back to the Islands and our Inns' always open door.

Best,
am

Would love to give it 5-star, as Ana Maria treated us and our dog wonderfully, but just can't do it. For nearly $300 we slept poorly because of the warm temperature in the room. There were no fans to cool it off. It was a very nice room and a beautiful bathroom, all with lots of windows, but no breeze. We spoke to the guests in the room next door and they also didn't sleep well bc of the heat.

Breakfast was good, but not mind blowing (we hoped for mind blowing at this price). The staff split my wife and I up at bfast because they didn't want to use their second table that was set and the main table was full except for two seats on opposite ends. Not a big deal, but hey, romantic B&B experiences include breakfast with your loved ones, right?

Overall- wonderful property and kind staff. If you stay here, do it for a few days to make the most of it. But avoid the warm summer days/nights... or be sure to ask for a fan if they have one!

Rob,

Thank you for staying with us and we appreciate your taking the time to provide feedback about your stay. Summer in the San Juan Islands is a fabulous time to visit. We enjoy high temperatures in the mid to high 70's and cool crisp evenings in the mid-50's. A small circulating fan is all it takes to provide comfortable air flow. All of our guest rooms have at least one fan and our large suites and cottages have multiple fans, many with ceiling fans. During our room checks today, we took special note of all the fans. For our small units, we store the fans beneath bureaus or in a closet, so they are out of the way and unfortunately not always easy to find. I apologize for the oversight with the fan. Next time, please don't hesitate to ask - this way you could have enjoyed a relaxing sleep.

Our breakfast menu changes each morning and is made from scratch daily using local ingredients from area producers. We offer room service for guests staying in our suites and cottages and a seated breakfast service in our Garden Cafe for those staying in our guest rooms. Most guests prefer to enjoy breakfast at the main dining table in the Cafe. So whenever possible, we try to accommodate all of our guests at the large communal dining table under the chandelier. When this is not possible, we set the smaller table for 4 guests so one couple doesn't feel ostracized eating by themselves. In retrospect, we understand your motivation was to eat together rather then be separated.

Thank you again for staying with us and writing about your stay. We do hope that you will give us another try and that we will have the pleasure of hosting you, your friends and family another time.

Best,

Anna Maria

My husband and I stayed in Lizzy's cottage. It was perfect! The bed was comfortable, the breakfast that was delivered to our door was fabulous, and it felt like "home". Just a short walk down the street is Suzie mopeds/scooter rentals. We saw the island in 5 or so hours in the scooter and had the best day. Coming back to a great room made it even better.

Thank you for staying at the Tucker House and taking the time to write about your stay. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. The Inn is conveniently located close to downtown, shops and restaurants. The scoot cars and mopeds are a fun way to get around the island. Next time you might enjoy taking out one of our bicycles that are complementary for our guests to use for your island exploration. We look forward to your return visit.

If you like the romance of bed and breakfasts this is a must for you! The property is well kept, the B&B and rooms are immaculate, the service is over the top and the breakfast is delicious! We stayed two nights; the rooms were comfortable and very cute. In room cookies, simply top off the night. The breakfast was delicious and when we had to leave early on the third day, they packed an awesome breakfast to go. We highly recommend the granola, YUMMY!

We are already planning on coming back for a longer stay!

We have been staying at the Harrison and Tucker House now for about three years. Every time we come back we feel like we are returning home to visit family. Annamaria and all of her staff are amazing. My husband and I had our wedding there in July of 2013. We booked the entire place with our family from all over the country. It was beautiful and every time I think about that day I can't stop smiling. Annamaria and her staff did such a wonderful job. Our day was all that we asked for and more. All of our family members loved it. Even still till this day they are talking about how beautiful our wedding on Friday Harbor was and how amazing it looked in Annamaria's garden. We have all been talking about going back for a family reunion. My husband I returned this July for our anniversary and once again it was amazing.... My husband is now talking about living there because every time we go back it gets harder and harder to leave. Thank you Annamaria and all your staff for making us always feel like we are part of your family!!!

Love,
Jenny and Sam

Room Tip: There is not a bad room in the place. We have stayed in a few of them and my family has stayed in all of them and there was no complaints. They are all different and offer a different experience.
