“Just okay Holiday”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

Just leaving the hotel. My stay here was nice for a small getaway however, didn't appreciate paying the extra $15/per night fee especially when traveling on a budget. The hotel staff were somewhat friendly although you can tell that they are not used to accomodating the African American culture. While out on the town several people wanted to take my picture (still trying to figure that out :/). My tour experience was quite interesting. A few I paid for cancelled without letting me know however, the conceirge were quite apologetic. The city is beautiful with it's unique buildings and the art is spectacular but I think that this would be my last time here.

Room Tip: The beds are horrible. Try and choose another hotel

Sorry to learn that you didn’t enjoy Santa Fe or the Hotel and did not feel welcome as we have guests staying with us from all corners and cultures of the globe all of the time!! Please note that all of our beds have been replaced in the past two years, so your bed comment is both confusing and the first in a very long time!!

The interior of this hotel (lobby, bar, restaurant, and sitting area) is beautifully decorated in southwestern style, The hotel staff are very helpful, and easily referred us to great sites (including the Cross of the Martyrs for the sunset over Santa Fe). Our junior suite was very comfortable for the 2 adults plus 11-yr-old. We stayed for 4 nights, and our suite became our home-away-from-home. A Whole Foods within walking distance let us purchase snacks for breakfast, and we temporarily emptied the mini-bar fridge of the hotel items so as to use it for our perishables. The hotel staff didn't mind that at all (probably because we returned all to proper order upon departure.) This was a beautiful place to base out of.

Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent and fairly priced. At the spa, I did an exfoliation-and-wrap treatment that was a nice experience/something different, but next time I'd do a massage instead. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, despite the fact that it was kind of cool (65 degree air temperature). And, we especially enjoyed the Native American music on Friday and Saturday night

We spent two days with our children at the Hacienda Spa. Very attractive rooms with gas fireplace and luxurious baths. The only irritation was a $15/night fee added to the room rate that covered a variety of services that would normally be in the room rate.

We stayed at the Hacienda part of the Hotel Santa Fe for eight nights. Overall we had a great time there. In choosing it we were influenced by its high ranking on Trip Advisor and, despite some minor annoyances, we were not disappointed. The location is good, being not too far to walk to most attractions in Santa Fe. There is a free shuttle service but we found it unnecessary. The service was mostly good. The room was comfortable and everything we expected. The bathroom was large, and the shower was excellent. The amenities were nice, with the best hotel soap in the world. The turn down service was a bit inconsistent and from our point of view unnecessary but it does come with excellent chocolates. The wifi was included and worked fine. The parking and grounds are excellent and the hotel looks great at night. We found the room to be very quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable. Annoyances were the fact that our booking said 'full breakfast' but the breakfast was in fact a standard continental self service breakfast accompanied by a conspicuous bowl into which tips were to be placed. Upon checking we were informed that there is no full breakfast unless paid for in the restaurant. However, this booking error may not have been the fault of the hotel. Generally speaking we were happy with the breakfast but got bored after a few days and headed to a cafe. Other minor annoyances were that we had to get our access cards recoded twice during our stay and for some reason we could not seem to access the spa pool. Despite these minor issues, which we did not consider to be particularly significant, we had a great stay at the hotel and would certainly recommend it to others.

Sitting in the lounge drinking tea in the morning was such a lovely time. The art in the hotel is lovely to look at. Sculptures around the property and the grounds were a treat. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was cozy, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

Across the street is a fabulous bakery and bread shop called Sage Bakehouse. A most amazing almond croissant is made there. I loved walking in the area.

We look forward to coming back.

So glad to know that you had a cozy and comfortable time and don’t tell my wife, but every now and then I pop across the street for one of those almond croissants (which I shouldn’t have!).

We look forward to welcoming you back and thank you staying with us.

This hotel has many nice features (although we did not take full advantage and wished we had!). The location is easy walking distance to the Historic Plaza and Canyon Road, and easily navigable by car if needed. The hotel also provides a shuttle within one mile--be sure to use it because you will be charged a $15/day fee for included amenities such as this one. All in all, a great place to stay.
