“Inn on the Alameda”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2013

This was our first time to Santa Fe, so we were not sure what to expect. This was a quaint hotel within walking distance of a lot of shopping and a number of restaurants. The staff was all helpful and welcoming. We had a great suite, the room was very clean and we really enjoyed the fireplace, it adds a lot of charm. The only negative of the room was the art on the walls was looking pretty tired, but all the furniture was in good condition. We definitely enjoyed breakfast and happy hour each day by the beautiful lobby fireplace.

The Inn on the Alameda is a great place, 2 blocks from the square and one block from the street with all the galleries on it. The room we had had a lovely kiva fire place. The main house at the inn has a lovely living room with a fire place and an bright and cozy breakfast room, also with a fire place where free wine and cheese is served in the afternoons. It was private but also quite social. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Santa Fe. Staff is very helpful and will even come and light the fire in your fire place.

Room Tip: Website shows the different room configurations so definitely check it out first! I choose one that...

Every year we make an annual pilgrimage to the Sanctuario de Chimayo... and we schedule our visit around the availability of the Wheel Chair Accessible Room at the Inn on the Alameda... without exception, for us, it is like "coming home" every time we visit... a few weeks prior to your scheduled arrival, they send you a Santa Fe Tour Guide... and additional tips to help you prepare... once there, the welcome and hospitality makes you feel like you are part of the Inn Family. The Breakfast, is one of the best in Santa Fe... and the wine and cheese every afternoon is very special... where the opportunity abounds to meet new folks and run into old friends. Room # 102 - the "room with a roll in shower," is the best in town for anyone who needs to transfer from a wheel chair to a shower seat... plenty of room and space. For us, The Inn on the Alameda is "a spiritual expereince" in and of itself... where grace is found among the peace and serenity of the environment and staff.

Room Tip: Room # 102 for those who need a wheel chair accessible room....

My wife and I visited Santa Fe in mid November and stayed her for 3 nights. I would not recommend going this late in the fall as the weather fluctuated often from chilly to uncomfortable, but it was a birthday and we wanted to get away from Dallas. The people at the Inn could not have been nicer. We've stayed at various other places over the years (and have spent a good deal more), but could not have asked for an overall better experience. Very quiet (though not full by any means at this time of the year) which is important to us, comfortable beds,, clean room and a the breakfast and afternoon wine were additional perks. I'm not sure why some folks have complained about the breakfast. Perhaps they're expectations are unrealistic. We stayed in a nicer king second floor room with fireplace and balcony. I understand this area, a bit further away from the office, is newer and nicer. But nothing from outside nor the front suggested anything was run-down. And the noise from Alameda was a non-factor. Maybe if our room was right on the road during the bust season, but really, it's just not that big a street. If there was one thing they could improve upon, our tub's water was quite warm, but not hot. It kept me from taking a hot bath after a chilling day out. Still, I say, go in October and stay here. Oh, also, the small hot ttub appeared to suffer from a similar lukewarm temperature, but we didn't inquire. So it may have been something they could have fixed. Bottom line: the best value for a nicer room in Santa Fe than I can recall in past few trips. Would stay here again!

How kind of you to take the time to describe in detail the ambiance and amenities which bring our guests back again and again. I am glad to hear that you find the Inn to be of great value, and for those that enjoy winter and snow, off season is a great value, however given your preference we hope to see you back when winter has past. Many Thanks.

This is my 3rd time staying at The Inn on the Alameda. It never fails to please, with the very helpful staff at check-in, the amazing breakfasts in the morning and the afternoon wine & cheese. It is delightful place that is within close walking distance to all things near the Plaza. I will stay here again and again.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you need a ground floor room, they are available. All the rooms are cha...

I found our room to be dreary and dark but clean. Tiny balcony with double doors let in minimal light. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Closet had a safe. Bathroom very small but clean. Just found the room depressing. No where to sit in the room other than an uncomfortable desk chair and very small (I'm a small person) fake leather chair. Comforter on bed was heavy, bulky and too hot but no other alternatives for the bed; uncomfortable.
On the plus side, the free breakfast was very nice; good choices such as egg dishes (frittata, quiche), pastry choices, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc. Everything seemed fresh and very good. Coffee was excellent. Staff were personable and efficient. Breakfast area was comfortable and clean.
The location of the hotel is convenient. Across the street is a small creek with trees; very picturesque. The hotel is one block from Canyon Rd with many galleries, shops and restaurants. It's only a 10 minute (easy) walk to the downtown square in Santa Fe.
I don't think we would stay there again only because the room was so dark and dreary (but clean!). If you're only sleeping there, then it would be fine. It was reasonably priced and the free breakfast was very good.

Thank you for taking the time to write in detail your experience at our Inn. The heavy bed cover while quite aesthetic is certainly more than most people need, which is why we are sampling lighter options and will begin replacement of the heavy bed coverings in 2014.

I will certainly evaluate the need for a more comfortable chair, all comments are always appreciated and considered.

Once again, our stay at Inn on the Alameda in Santa Fe is like seeing a old friend. From the gracious greeting to the free wine at Happy Hour alongside a cozy pinon fire burning in the fireplace, this is a very welcoming place for travelers. We have been staying there for many years and everytime is always great.
