“Rosewood Inn, Santa Fe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

It's been awhile since we've stayed at the Rosewood Inn, but in the past it has been our favorite place in Santa Fe!
It's an excellent hotel and restaurant and in the perfect location - on the Plaza, in the heart of the city.
While there you must have dinner at the restaurant, but can also eat meals at several other locations within walking distance.
Look nowhere else when booking Santa Fe!

My wife and I have stayed at Rosewood hotels over the years: Las Ventanas, CordeValle and the Inn of the Anasazi. We were in Santa Fe for the Wine and Chili festival and decided to try Rosewood again. Overall, the hotel was nice and staff were very friendly. But the difference between a five-star hotel and a three-star hotel are in the details. Special experiences make a great hotel.
-Negative impressions:
>After arriving after a long drive: Our car needed to be washed: I asked the doorman about
getting it washed during our stay, and he provided directions to a car wash in town.
(When at the Ritz-Carlton: The staff took care of the car wash).
>Bathroom needs remodeling: We had to use a hand-held shower nozzle. (not 5-star).
>When asked by the hotel if we were celebrating any special occasion: I noted that it was our
37th wedding anniversary: And asked about a local bottle of sparkling wine in the room. They
provided a $17 bottle of local sparkling wine and CHARGED me $54 for it.
(When at the Inn at Lorretto, they provided complimentary wine).

But special thanks to their server in the restaurant: Leslie: Who was amazing as we attended their winemaker dinner and also had another meal at the restaurant: She was outstanding!

But next year, we are going back to the Inn of Four Graces or the Inn at Loretto. This hotel needs to work on five-star details.

My only complaint is that we could not stay longer. 3 days is not enough to properly visit the Santa Fe area and hardly enough to enjoy the comforts of this wonderful hotel. Comfortable to an extreme and superbly located right off the Plaza, the Inn and its staff are reason enough to return. Worth the premium price.

I cannot say enough good things about the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi. The service was over the top, and we are use to the St. Regis and Four Seasons level of service.
The hotel is older, but it is charming and the warmth more than makes up for that.

An example of the service is that when we went to the dining room, we asked for a couple of things. Since it was not crowded the server asked, "Just tell me what you want, and I will see if the chef can make that for you". You can see why I wrote, 'over the top'. And they played Chet Baker singing jazz standards at breakfast!

Probably the best thing I can say is that when we come back to Santa Fe, we will want to be in the very same room. That being said, our room was a Deluxe King on the third floor. I had read that some of the other rooms were smaller and less bright. Ours was terrific!

Room Tip: spend a little more and enjoy this fine hotel. Our room over the garden was quiet and bright.

We were very satisfied. The room was nice -- quiet, clean, with a gas fireplace and a modern bathroom with a double sink. The service was very attentive. The food was fine. The location is excellent. The only shortcoming was a poorly stocked mini-bar, which is not a big deal. It is not luxurious but the price is right.

If you are looking for a serene and beautiful hotel in Santa Fe, this is the place to unwind. The staff (all of them) will know your name within moments of your arrival, and never forget it as your stay unwinds. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with all the usual southwestern trappings. The restaurant is excellent, as well. Best of all, you are less than 100 feet from The Plaza, a gathering spot for locals & tourists, as well as the location for numerous shops and restaurants. This is a "can't miss" perfect location & property. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for!

Room Tip: Room 202 is directly over the entrance and has a nice view into The Plaza.

I am torn between La Posada and Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe. I would say that overall Inn of the Anasazi is better, but it is more expensive too. However, if you stay in the summer, La Posada feels cooler and more spacious.

What I like about this hotel:
*Overall, very good service. They truly tend to little details.
*The concierge. She was superb, great restaurant recommendations.
*Elegant
*Top location
*Solid rooms. Great beds
*Delicious cookies in the evenings
*Living room, great to work, if you need to.
*...and the toiletries are a nice plus. The scrub is out of this world.

It is pricey, but it pays off on the little details.

Wish list: Add yourself to Starwood, so I can collect miles.
