If you are in Santa Fe and want a little enjoyment of wilderness come here and make the little nature walk. You will find it to be amazingly quiet and peaceful for its relative proximity to "civilization"

“Up in the hills”

Very nice. Birdsong, birds flitting about. Stargazing. Pretty gardens and natural areas. I like it there very much.

“Take a map. Enjoy the hike.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

Beautiful Hike But No Birds

The Audubon center affords mild hikes with gentle elevations in beautiful terrain.

Educational signs help point out animals, birds and plants.
The hiking trail for me was mild to moderate. Benches are strategically placed for the views.
Parking is available at the visitor center
Staff is helpful.
Bathrooms were clean

Seeing birds is similar to fishing. Sometimes they are not there.
No mark down for the lack of birds. I attribute the lack of birds on my visit to the time of day and the time of year that I visited.

Total time was a Nice 3 hour hike.

5 Hints: Get a map, the place is way up Canyon Road and there were for me a few confusing turns.

if you go. Please bring sun screen and hats and long sleeve shirts. The sun is intense

Water bottles help make the hike better.

Parking was free.

The building next to the center has delightful lawns for a picnic lunch.

“Nice Refuge Close to Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Bring a map to be sure you make the correct jag on Canyon Road or Alameda or however you choose to get here. There are exhibits and birding tours. Rent some binoculars. Do it yourself on the 1.5 mile Spring Canyon loop. The trail has been altered since the land has been modified, but still relatively easy to follow with a bit of an ascent. This used to be a larger reservoir, now reduced to a single holding area. Very quaint and peaceful. Other trails depart from here. Bring water and snacks to make it a whole day!

“A Notch Up From Santa Fe Splendor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

If the pine-fresh air of Santa Fe isn't quite enough for you, combine it with the tranquility and beauty of a visit to the Auduban Center - ten minutes tops from the Plaza downtown. Utter quiet, great hiking, you'll want to sit down and ponder the wonders of existence.
